About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The Garden House – it's one of those places that just warms your cockles on a chilly London day. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the food is where it really shines; imagine tucking into a mixed kebab that's smoky and packed with flavour, or a lovely brunch with fresh bagels, eggs, bacon, and hash browns – all for a price that won't leave you skint. The staff sound like absolute gems, always friendly and on hand to make sure you're looked after, which makes the whole experience feel welcoming and personal. And that quirky decor with books everywhere? It's a fun twist that adds a bit of character, ideal for whiling away an afternoon. But, to be fair, it's more of a cafe vibe than a proper pub, so if you're craving a lively spot for a pint and some banter, it might not quite deliver that energy. Plus, without a website, it's a bit of a faff to get the lowdown beforehand, and there might be a language barrier if Turkish isn't your thing. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a casual meal with mates – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the niggles.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think juicy Turkish kebabs, tasty brunches with fresh bakery items, and well-presented meals that leave you wanting more.
  • The staff are so friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got a relaxed and quirky atmosphere with interesting decor and a great selection of books, perfect for a casual catch-up over coffee or a meal.
  • Prices are reasonable, so you get brilliant value without breaking the bank.
  • With a solid 4.5 rating from loads of folks, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a good time, especially for Turkish cuisine lovers.
Cons
  • It seems more like a cosy cafe than a lively pub, so if you're after a buzzing atmosphere with pints and live music, it might not quite hit the mark.
  • There's no website listed, which makes it a bit tricky to check menus or book ahead online.
  • The operating status is a bit confusing – it says closed, but the schedule shows it's open most days, so you'd want to double-check before heading out.
  • A couple of reviews hint that it's best if you speak Turkish, as the book selection and vibe lean that way, which could feel a tad exclusive otherwise.

A Hidden Gem with Heart and Flavor We stumbled upon this cozy Turkish cafe and left completely impressed. The mixed kebab was the star of the show—juicy, perfectly grilled meats served with salad and warm bread. Each bite had that authentic smoky flavor that’s hard to beat. We ordered a side of cacık, and it was refreshingly creamy with just the right touch of garlic and mint, perfect for dipping. The fresh salad added a crisp balance to the hearty meal. What made it extra special was the warmth of the owner, Başak. She greeted us like old friends and made sure everything was just right. Her energy fills the place—it’s not just a restaurant, it feels like her home. We stayed for dessert and had their homemade baklava with Turkish tea. Sweet, flaky, and rich—the perfect ending to an amazing meal. The café itself is charming and relaxed, ideal for a lazy afternoon or casual dinner. Highly recommended for anyone looking for not just a meal.

Nice local cafe/bar in Tottenham. Particularly, if you speak Turkish and like reading, the wide selection of books may be of great appeal. But even if you don't, it's a nice brunch place while being surrounded by books. The quirky design makes the place fun and the food was very tasty.
