About This Pub

Ah, The Drunken Duck – what a lovely little find in Gloucester! From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this charming, quirky vibe that's perfect for a relaxed evening with mates. The beers are spot on, with a rotating selection of well-kept ales and ciders that keep things fresh and exciting, and the staff really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome, sharing their knowledge and joining in the craic. Upstairs, there's a fantastic games room with free arcade machines, pool, and darts, which adds a playful twist and keeps the energy up. It's clear folks love the community feel here, with easy conversations and even events like album nights that make it stand out. But, let's be honest, it's not without its quirks – the space is quite compact, so seating can be scarce, especially if it gets busy, and being in a narrow alley means it might not be the easiest place to stumble upon. Still, with such high praise and a solid 4.8 rating, I'd say it's well worth a visit for anyone after a genuine, down-to-earth pub experience in Gloucester.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The selection of beers and ciders is top-notch – always well-kept and changes regularly, so there's always something new to try.
  • The staff are absolute gems; they're friendly, knowledgeable, and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got a brilliant atmosphere for chats and mingling – everyone seems welcoming, and it's easy to strike up a conversation.
  • The games room upstairs is a real highlight, with free arcade machines, pool, darts, and even board games, perfect for a fun night out.
  • They host fun events like album nights, adding a quirky touch that makes it more than just your average pub.
Cons
  • It's a bit on the small side, with limited seating, so it can feel cosy to the point of being cramped during busier times.
  • Tucked away in a narrow alley, it might be tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area, which could put some off.
  • The beer options are good but not overwhelming, so if you're after a huge variety, you might find it a tad limited.

Great small pub. Enjoyed some good conversation. They were planning on hosting an album night (spin some LP’s). Wish we could have gone. Stop by there if you get a chance.

A quirky, compact and fantastic bar, which has to be seen to be believed! There is always a fantastic selection of well-kept beers and ciders, which rotates quite regularly. The refurbished games room upstairs is both popular and amazing, with the arcade machines being free to play for punters. Don't let the location of the bar put you off!

In Gloucester for the day and came across this amazing little bar. Choice of beers was good . I had a Blunderbuss and my partner had an IPA. Both beers were very good. The owner was a lovely chap and very knowledgeable. The other customers in the bar made us both feel very welcome and it was nice just to converse with people instead of being on our phones. Will definitely be back and highly recommend it .

Best micro pub in the city, cracking staff, decent beers, pool table, darts, arcade machines, and TNT sports.

Small bar in a narrow side alley. Few tap beers and real ales available. Not much seating available. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. TV on the wall and music being piped through which was pleasant. Upstairs was a games room with arcade games, board games and pool. Beer was good. Enjoyed my visit.
