About This Pub

Ah, The Colonial Bar – it's this charming little pub right in the heart of Falkirk that's become a bit of a local gem for a laid-back night out. From the reviews I've had a look at, the staff really stand out; they're so approachable and make you feel like you're part of the gang straight away, which is just what you want after a long day. The atmosphere is spot on too, with a real sense of community – whether it's popping in for a quiet drink or catching one of their events, like the upcoming Drag Brunch, it's got that warm, inclusive feel. And let's not forget the drinks; they're well-priced with a great variety, including some top-notch gins and whiskeys that could keep any enthusiast happy. The beer garden is another highlight, with its TVs and music making it a fun place to linger, especially when they've got the heaters on for those breezy Scottish evenings. But, on the flip side, it's not without its drawbacks – the space is quite compact, so on busier nights, you might find yourself squeezed in, which isn't ideal if you're after a bit more room to breathe. Plus, a couple of folks have mentioned some rowdy moments that can disrupt the good times, so it's worth keeping in mind if you're planning a peaceful pint. All in all, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers looking for a friendly spot, as long as you're up for a bit of the hustle and bustle.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got a great atmosphere, especially with events and a lively crowd that makes for a proper community vibe.
  • Drinks are reasonably priced with a solid selection of beers, wines, spirits, and an impressive range of gins and whiskeys to choose from.
  • The beer garden is a lovely spot, equipped with TVs, music, and heaters, perfect for enjoying a pint outdoors even on chillier evenings.
Cons
  • The bar is a bit on the small side, so it can feel quite cramped when it gets busy, which might not suit everyone.
  • There have been a few instances of rowdy behaviour from some visitors, which could spoil the fun and make for an uncomfortable experience at times.

Twice been in this pub in the past months and will not be back..1st time with a female friend in the so called beer garden full with youngsters out there head on either alcohol or other substance. A sat night where half the clientele were so drunk they could not stand yet bar staff happy to serve them more...in days of old Kenny would never have allowed that kind of behaviours good clean kept pub. Managed to stick it out for just the two drinks which have to say was more than enough considering half the girls were falling about the place. Second time a group of us out for a catch up and wee drinking session all fine to start with till the barmaids locals started to arrive in which they took preference to serve as it seems ordering a round for 10 people takes to long in her own words which did not go down well with our company See missy when you have 10 guys spending well over £400 in your pub in my books you keep them happy for a thursday afternoon instead of munching on packs of crisps get out and clean the tables....Needless to say COLONIAL we will not be back in any shape or form ...what should have been a good day out and good income for the pub spoiled by barmaids comments

We are not regulars but anytime we do go in everyone is so friendly, you just feel included! We went in last night and there was a party on! A guy gave up his seat for me and a woman told us to help ourselves to the buffet everyone talked to us or at least acknowledged us!! I always feel it's a lovely wee place and you feel you belong, just like one great big family!! It's just the best! Xx
