About This Pub
Ah, The Coach & Horses – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Derby, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute stars, always up for a laugh and making sure everyone feels welcome, which really sets the tone for a relaxed night out. The drinks are affordably priced, and there's a great selection to suit most tastes, whether you're after a classic ale or something a bit different. Plus, with things like pool, darts, and even karaoke on offer, it's easy to see why folks keep coming back for the entertainment – and don't forget the sports screens for when the big games are on. It's also lovely that they make space for families and pets, adding to that inclusive feel. On the downside, though, it does tend to fill up quickly on weekends, so you might end up jostling for space or waiting for a table, and if you're hoping for a hearty meal, the options are a bit thin – it's more your traditional pub fare. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together, but perhaps not the spot if you're after something more upscale or food-focused. I'd say give it a go if you're in the area; it's got that genuine, homely charm that makes for a memorable visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in
-
Prices are spot on for a good pint – it's an inexpensive spot without skimping on quality
-
Loads of fun activities like pool, darts, and karaoke to keep the evening lively and engaging
-
It's family-oriented and pet-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out with the little ones or your furry mate
-
A proper community vibe with a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for catching up with friends or watching the footy on the screens
Cons
-
It can get a bit crowded on busy nights, which might make it tricky to find a seat or have a quiet chat
-
The food options seem limited, more focused on drinks and snacks rather than a full menu, so it might not satisfy if you're after a proper meal
-
As a local pub, it might not have the same appeal for those popping in from further afield, feeling a tad neighbourhood-specific

Great local pub I've been using for just over 4 years. Always friendly staff and locals.
Pool table and darts available also children and pets welcome which is brilliant.
My chum and I popped out on a sunny Saturday afternoon for a spot of refreshment. Kinga was very accommodating and was able to rustle up a bloody Mary of sorts...which is what we came for (not as widely available as you might think... bars/pubs often don't have tomato juice).
Viva the Coach Bloody Mary! ✌️😎 Thanks Kinga!
