About This Pub

Ah, The City Gent in Bradford is one of those pubs that just has that cosy, old-school feel to it – you know, the kind where you can pop in for a quick pint and end up chatting away the afternoon. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this fantastic friendly vibe and staff who make you feel right at home, which is always a winner. The pints are cheap as chips, and the building's history as a bank gives it this unique character that really sets it apart. It's spot on if you're in a rush, like before heading to the football, but on the flip side, the opening times can be a bit unpredictable, so you might turn up and find it closed, which is a proper shame. The ale doesn't always hit the mark either, and if you're hoping for a quiet corner, the pool table and little ones buzzing about might put a damper on things. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back drink with mates, as long as you go in with realistic expectations – the good bits definitely outweigh the niggles for me!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is really friendly and welcoming, making it a great spot for a casual catch-up.
  • Pints are affordably priced, so you won't break the bank for a good drink.
  • The architecture is absolutely stunning – it used to be a bank, and that historical charm adds a lovely touch.
  • It's conveniently located, perfect for a quick stop on the way to something like a football match.
Cons
  • Opening hours can be a bit unreliable, which might leave you disappointed if it's shut when it should be open.
  • The ale quality isn't always consistent, so it might not live up to expectations every time.
  • The pool table and kids around can sometimes make it feel a tad disruptive if you're after a peaceful pint.

Fantastic architecture and decor from the days when it was a bank. Sometimes has good ale and sometimes not. Needs to lose the pool table and kids. They are both a nuisance.
