About This Pub

Ah, The Charlestown Pub – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper local gem in Manchester, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are an absolute delight, always going the extra mile to make sure everything runs smoothly, whether it's a casual drink or something more special like a birthday bash or even a wake. The atmosphere is spot on, with a family-friendly vibe thanks to that play area, and the function room with its outdoor space is just brilliant for gatherings – folks have raved about the food being tasty and great value, too. On the flip side, though, their online setup seems a bit wonky, which might leave you scratching your head when trying to check details beforehand, and the hours can look a bit messy, so it's worth double-checking. Overall, it's a solid spot that does community events proud, but if you're after a serene night, it might not be your first pick. I'd say give it a go if you're in the area; it's got that genuine, heartfelt feel that makes pub visits memorable.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and so helpful, making you feel right at home whether you're popping in for a quick pint or hosting a special event.
  • It's got a really welcoming atmosphere, perfect for locals looking for a good vibe and a spot that's family-friendly with a play area for the little ones.
  • The function room is spacious with a great outdoor space, ideal for parties, wakes, or celebrations, and the food is spot on with excellent value for money.
  • Prices are fair, so you won't break the bank, and it's well-suited for community events, adding a nice touch of heart to the place.
Cons
  • The online presence could do with a bit of sprucing up, as the website had some issues, which might make it tricky to get all the info you need before visiting.
  • Operating hours seem a tad confusing with multiple listings, so it might take a moment to figure out when they're open, which could put off the odd visitor.
  • While it's brilliant for events, it might not be the quietest spot if you're after a peaceful evening, as it can get lively with families and gatherings.

We held my Mum's wake at the Charlestown Pub. The function room was spacious and had a wonderful outdoor space. The staff were wonderful and the food was amazing. They did my Mum proud. The value for money is excellent, a deposit is required but it was returned in a speedy manner. I just wanted them to know how grateful we are and reassure anybody who is thinking of booking an event here that you are in good hands.

We had my daughter's 18th birthday party here last night and it was lovely. The staff were so friendly and helpful, a big thank you to Lisa and the rest of the staff. The dj was great and the food was lovely. Back Lace decorations did a beautiful job with the balloons and decorations. Highly recommend.
