About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Bridge Inn; it's one of those pubs that just feels like a breath of fresh air, tucked away by the Bridgewater Canal in Sale. I've heard from folks who've been there that the food is a standout – those Sunday roasts are proper comforting, with tender meats and all the trimmings, and the fish and chips are spot on, nice and juicy without being greasy. The beer garden is just lovely for a sunny afternoon, where you can unwind with a pint of their excellent JW Lees ales or a glass of wine, and it's brilliant that they welcome dogs, making it perfect after a stroll. On the flip side, it's worth noting that things can get a bit sluggish with service when the place is buzzing, and occasionally a dish might not be cooked quite to everyone's taste, like the chicken being a touch tough. All in all, though, it's a welcoming spot that does a lot right, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a relaxed meal and a chat with mates – just pop in early or book ahead to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think juicy Sunday roasts, fresh fish and chips, and hearty burgers that leave you feeling well satisfied.
  • It's got that lovely canalside vibe, with stunning views and a spacious beer garden that's ideal for soaking up the sun or watching the ducks glide by.
  • The staff are really friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home, and it's super dog-friendly too, which is great if you're out for a walk.
  • They've got an excellent selection of drinks, including award-winning cask ales from JW Lees and a nice range of wines and spirits to suit any occasion.
  • Portions are generous and it's good value for money, especially for a proper pub meal.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit slow at times, particularly when it's busy, like on Sundays, so you might have to be patient.
  • Some dishes might not always hit the mark, like the chicken breast being a tad overcooked now and then, though other parts shine through.
  • It gets quite popular, so booking ahead is a good idea, especially for evenings or weekends, to avoid any disappointment.

Found this place on a canal walk and super glad we did. Sun was shining and we were starving. I glad we came hungry as the outdoor menu was delicious and huge portions. Lovely hot and well cooked chips. We ordered some burgers which were very juicy and lots of great flavours. Would highly recommend and will come back

The fish and chips is worth to try, very juicy inside and not oily. The halloumi is soft and not salty, and it is delicious. Good service and the place is beautiful for taking photos. Reservation is recommended for Friday nights.

Really tasty Sunday Roast one of the better ones I’ve had in the last few years and a good portion size too. Service was quite slow and certainly wasn’t with a smile, but the food was great.

The service was slow on Sunday, but understandable since it was very busy. Me and a friend got the sharing Sunday roast. Beef: Amazing done, soft and breaks apart. Gammon: Soft and tender. Chicken breast: A little well done and tough for my liking. The Yorkshire’s and sage stuffing was the star of the dish, perfectly done. The potatoes are soft and has a very little crisp to them. Carrots and parsnips were very tender. I’m not a fan of cauliflower and cheese but it was very good. We also had dessert, Bakewell tart perfect. The sticky toffee apple waffle crunch was lovely, it’s basically a waffle with apple crumble.
