About This Pub
Oh, what a gem Cork of the North is for us wine lovers in Sale – it's one of those places where you walk in and immediately feel the buzz of a well-curated selection that caters to all tastes, from everyday tipples to something a bit special. I love how they've got this warm, inviting vibe that makes it easy to settle in for a glass or pick up a bottle to take away; the staff are just brilliant, always up for sharing a story about the wines or helping you find the perfect match for your meal. It's especially nice on a Thursday night when things get lively, and those cheese and charcuterie boards are a real delight if you time it right. But, fair's fair, it can be a bit frustrating if you're out late and fancy a bite, as they stop serving food around 9:30pm, and if you're not a card carrier, you'll have to plan ahead since cash isn't an option. All in all, it's a solid spot that does wine proud, with just a few tweaks that could make it even better – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The wine selection is absolutely brilliant – they've got a wide range of reds, whites, rosés, and even some organic and natural options, all carefully chosen and reasonably priced, making it a treat for any wine enthusiast.
-
The staff are top-notch; they're incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to help with recommendations or just a chat, which really makes you feel at home.
-
It's got a lively and welcoming atmosphere, especially on busy evenings, perfect for enjoying a glass or two with friends, and they offer tasty food like charcuterie boards and cheese platters to go with it.
-
They host wine tastings and have options for gifts and mixed cases, adding a fun element for those looking to explore or stock up.
Cons
-
Food service wraps up a bit early, around 9:30pm, so if you're popping in later, you might miss out on those cheese boards or other nibbles.
-
They only take card payments, which is handy for most, but could be a nuisance if you're carrying cash and fancy a spontaneous visit.
-
The opening hours can seem a tad inconsistent or confusing at times, with the place closed on one day a week, so it's worth checking ahead to avoid disappointment.

A great company to deal with. Consistently good well priced carefully selected wines that never disappoint.
Popped in a few times over the last weeks. Great place to have a glass of wine, but they also have a really good stock for purchase. Adam was really helpful and knowledgeable, as well as super friendly
Wine shop and bar in the heart of Sale. Very wide range of wines, gins and bottle beers and ciders. Food menu includes charcuterie, cheese, pate, houmous and sourdough bread. We were in on Thursday night, and it was busy with a lively atmosphere. Accepts only card payments.
What a lovely place!! Staff were so friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend. There was 6 of us in the group and the staff gave us table service which was nice and unexpected.
We asked at the bar about 10pm for a couple of cheese boards but they stopped serving at 9.30pm but the lovely lady behind the bar, put 2 together for us and they were great.
Would definitely recommend!
Great place for good wine, but perhaps more importantly great service. The food - meats and cheese boards - is well worth a try. The produce they use is of good quality.
