About This Pub

Ah, The Black Bull – it's one of those classic Liverpool pubs that just feels like a proper spot to unwind with mates. From what I've gathered from folks who've been, the service is spot-on; the staff are friendly and go out of their way to make sure everyone's having a good time, which really adds to the warm vibe. The drinks are a bargain too, so it's ideal if you're after a pint without breaking the bank, and they've got heaps of entertainment lined up, like quizzes and karaoke that get everyone involved and laughing. It's got that nostalgic charm that takes you back to simpler times, which is lovely if you're in the mood for a bit of sentiment. On the flip side, though, the decor's looking a bit tired and could use some updating to make it feel more inviting – nothing major, but it does stand out. And if you're hoping for food, you're out of luck here, so it's probably best to grab a bite before you head in. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, as long as you go in with the right expectations – perfect for a catch-up over a few drinks and a singalong!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and provide top-notch service, making you feel right at home every time.
  • Drinks are reasonably priced, which is a real treat for a budget-friendly evening out.
  • There's always something fun on offer, like quizzes and karaoke, keeping the atmosphere lively and entertaining.
  • It has a wonderful nostalgic feel that brings back fond memories for many, especially us locals who appreciate the history.
Cons
  • The decor is a bit dated and could do with a fresh lick of paint to spruce things up.
  • They don't seem to offer much in the way of food, so you might need to pop elsewhere if you're after a proper meal.
  • The operating hours listed are a tad confusing, which could lead to a few surprises if you're planning a visit.

Near exactly how it was before it closed many years ago which for me personally was perfect for the nostalgic side of visiting. This pub brought back to me a huge amount of super times and happy memories i made in an instant. Could do with a lick of paint to improve the decor side of things but if your after a great night of times gone by and old school tunes this is the place to go and relive your youth... 🌟
