About This Pub

Ah, The Beacon in Loughborough is one of those hidden gems that really puts the community first – it's independently run, supports local producers, and even backs charities like Rainbows Hospice, which is just brilliant. I love how they emphasise fresh ingredients in everything from breakfast to dinner, and the vibe is so inviting, with a cosy pub feel blending into a modern cafe side for coffee or ice cream. The staff are absolute stars, always going the extra mile to make you feel at home, and it's a top spot for a casual get-together or even booking for an event. But, fair play, it's not perfect – some reviews mention dishes that didn't quite hit the mark, like dry roasts or underwhelming nachos, and it can be a tad cold inside during winter months. Plus, with prices leaning towards the moderate end, it might add up quicker than you'd expect. All in all, it's worth swinging by for the genuine local touch and friendly buzz, just go in with an open mind and maybe skip the riskier menu items for a more reliable experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • They focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, which really shines through in their tasty meals and supports the community.
  • The atmosphere is spot on – a lovely mix of traditional pub charm and a modern cafe vibe, perfect for a relaxed pint or a meal.
  • They've got a great range of options, from bottomless brunches to Sunday roasts, and it's ace for hosting events or just dropping in.
Cons
  • Some dishes can be a bit hit or miss, like those nachos that one person said were rock-hard and lacking flavour.
  • It can get chilly inside on colder days, which might leave you wishing you'd brought an extra layer.
  • Prices are on the steeper side for a pub, so it might not be the best spot if you're watching your wallet.
  • There are occasional inconsistencies with food quality, as a few folks have mentioned overcooked roasts or mediocre choices.

Food was mediocre but I’ve heard really good things from other people (also could’ve just been our choices, but I wouldn’t recommend the nachos to an enemy - cheese is as hard as nails, barely any salsa and no guac). Vibe of the place was really nice though and staff friendly, they have free board games you can play which was a lot of fun.

The pub has a great friendly and modern atmosphere with a traditional pub side and a more modern cafe side (which serves coffee and ice cream in the daytime). Slightly on the expensive side but a good place to eat and drink if you're in the area.

Really lovely meal with great service. I went for an early tea at the Beacon Inn, Loughborough, this evening. It was a great atmosphere in the front restaurant, and I really super menu. We were served by a lady called Jayne, who couldn’t do more for us. She was absolutely fantastic and really helped with minor allergies and food dislikes. The food was lovely, atmosphere was great, and service was impeccable. A really great place to go (plus, very reasonably priced).

Just had a Sunday roast at beacon inn, first of all staff are friendly...however the place it self was so cold, wasn't warm especially with the cold weather!! Sat with our coats on, well some of us... the food came out ...we have roast sharing platter, which is over cooked and dry... definitely won't recommend this all .... Hardly ate the food! Try it out if you like but there's better pubs further along!

From the special menu we tried the leak soup, which was really delicious, and the brie burger (both pictured here). Really tasty! The atmosphere was warm and quiet, tho we did go quite early. We had a reservation but around 5pm on a week day it might not be necessary. They have a beautiful dining room and bar.
