About This Pub
Ah, The Bay Horse – what a lovely little find in Middridge! I've got to say, it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a relaxed get-together. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting, with that cozy feel that makes you want to linger over a pint or a meal. The food's a highlight too; think hearty classics like fish and chips that are properly done, with massive portions that'll fill you up without breaking the bank. And the staff? They're an absolute delight, always cheerful and ready to help, whether you're just dropping in for a drink or planning something bigger like a baby shower. It's clear from the buzz around here that folks love it for events and casual eats. On the flip side, though, it does get heaving at times, so you might end up waiting a bit for your table or food, and it's probably not the coziest for a romantic dinner for two with that large eating area. Plus, I've heard a couple of mentions about some dishes not quite hitting the mark flavour-wise, which is a pity. Still, with such a strong reputation and rave reviews for the overall experience, I'd say it's well worth a visit – just pop in prepared for the crowds and you'll have a cracking time!

Cons
-
It can get really busy, so you might have to wait a bit, and it's not the best for a quiet, intimate evening.

Some dishes have been described as lacking flavour or being a tad dry, which is a shame given the high standards elsewhere.
-
Without a website, it's a bit tricky to check menus or book in advance online, which might put some off.

The Bay Horse in Middridge is a proper gem. A cozy, welcoming pub with delicious food and friendly service. Whether you're popping in for a quick drink or settling in for a meal, it's great.
The menu is packed with hearty, well-prepared dishes, from classic pub favorites like fish and chips and steak pie to more creative specials. Everything is fresh, generous in portion, and full of flavour. Their Sunday roast is a standout—tender meat, crispy roast potatoes, and all the trimmings done just right.
The staff are always cheerful and attentive, making you feel right at home. There’s a lovely mix of locals and visitors, giving the place a relaxed, community vibe.
Cheers!

It's well priced and great value for money (this is from the light bite menu)
We've had a baby shower here and they're brilliant for events like that too.
Managed to book a table at short notice on a Friday night. The food came 20 minutes after ordering and it was all incredible as always! The chips are absolutely unbelievable😍 All food was piping hot and the portion sizes are great! Would highly recommend :) Incredible food and lovely atmosphere.
Very busy restaurant and since last time has had a nice revamp deco.
FOH Staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very busy and required to be patient. Food came and both presented well but lacked flavour and were dry. However, I will still come back again. It's a very nice place.
Good food with ample portions. Staff excellent. Very popular place so booking is essential. Large eating area. So maybe not the best for an intimate meal for two. But would recommend giving this a try as the food quality is very good
