About This Pub
Ah, The Barn in Milton Keynes – it's one of those places that feels like a reliable old mate when you're out for a meal. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, the staff are just brilliant, always ready with a smile and that personal touch, whether it's handling a large group at the drop of a hat or making your anniversary feel extra special with some thoughtful decorations. Their daytime deals are an absolute winner if you're watching the pennies, offering up solid mains like fish and chips or a classic burger for under £8, and the breakfast buffet sounds like a proper treat to kick off your day. The food generally gets thumbs up, with folks raving about the steaks and fresh dishes that leave you satisfied. Plus, it's got that cosy vibe with a function room that's ideal for catching up with mates over a relaxed evening. On the downside, it's not all smooth sailing – there have been a few moans about the occasional disappointing dish, like a steak that was more chewy than it should be, and the dessert options are a tad limited, which might not thrill the sweet-toothed among us. Still, with a solid average rating pushing 4.1, it's clear this spot does more right than wrong, making it a great shout for a straightforward night out where you can enjoy good value and a friendly chat, but maybe keep your expectations in check for the finer details.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The staff are absolutely lovely and really go the extra mile to make you feel at home, like sorting out a last-minute spot for a big group or decorating a table for a special occasion.
-
They've got some cracking deals on offer, such as the daytime lunch with eight mains under £8, making it a brilliant spot for a budget-friendly meal without skimping on taste.
-
The food hits the spot quite often, with tasty options like juicy steaks, fresh sea bass, and a delightful breakfast buffet that's perfect for a hearty start to the day.
-
It's well-suited for get-togethers, boasting a function room and a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and enjoy time with friends or family.
Cons
-
Food quality can be a bit inconsistent at times, like when someone ends up with a tough steak that doesn't live up to expectations, even if they replace it.
-
The pudding menu doesn't have a huge selection, which might leave you wanting more choices if you're after something sweet to round off your meal.
-
It can get busy, so you might have to wait for a table now and then, which could put a dampener on spontaneous visits.

Lovely meal and catered for a large group last minute yesterday as we got cancelled on July another venue. Lovely staff, we even had our own area so the kids could enjoy too.
I had king prawn starter, with sea bass to follow. My child had pasta, with corn on cob and peas, and my partner had fish and chips.
Very tough steak on my mixed grill was replaced with another gristly steak. Waitress said it was bad luck to get 2 tough steaks, but still cost me £19.99
Had a lovely experience a few days ago for our anniversary Vicki made it quite memorable for us with a lovely atmosphere and conversation they decorated our table nicely for it as requested for our anniversary they definitely did good with the box of chocolates and petals on the table, the food was amazing maybe a bit more cheese sauce on the nachos but nothing major and definitely a good option to add to the steaks would be peppers and mac n cheese as that’s really popular with steaks but overall amazing experience. Coming from someone that has worked for 12 years in hospitality I can tell a good server and how long they’ve had in the background which I was right in predicting how long she’d worked in the industry based on how welcoming and upbeat she was we had a nice conversation with her a few times so she definitely did her job well and hope she gets on well with University. We’ll hopefully be back again in future. The lady that seated us I could tell had probably been working in hospitality for a while as could have been a little more welcoming but not a big deal I know when a servers having a bit of a rough day so hope she was ok also but glad with the overall experience did hope for more understanding of the issue of the 25% off as I did sign up for it but didn’t receive an email and didn’t know about needing a code after 48 hours so maybe that should have been made clearer on the discount to do 48 hours in advance but other than that was a lovely time thanks to Vicki and the great food and drinks. Would have liked my ribeye a little more pink as I like mine rare but was still nice just a bit more medium I think it was but still really nice.
A delightful breakfast buffet experience on Friday 14th. Went there without any reservation however it was fully booked, requested to wait and their amazing manager Leon has offered us to temporarily sat at the bar while waiting for the next available table. (Where in-fact it took us about 5mins wait to have our table) There are two menu options of breakfast and reasonable price. Tried both continental and cooked. Must not miss breakfast offer!
Was a lunch time last minute treat. Lady serving was really friendly and helpful. Food was really tasty. Swapped my chips for fries so was even better for me. Think the pudding menu is lacking for choice but steaks worth the money we paid. Had surf and turf and a the steak sampler. 👍
