About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Aviary in Hornchurch – it's one of those places that just hits the mark for a proper nice meal out. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is spot on; think tasty starters like scallops wrapped in Parma ham or a hearty creamy pea soup that folks are raving about. The cocktails are a real treat too, setting the tone for what sounds like a fabulous dining experience. What really stands out is the service – the team there are so welcoming and go the extra mile, like surprising you with a card and a free drink on your anniversary, which adds that personal touch you don't always get. The decor is chic with this aviary theme woven in, making the space feel spacious and inviting, perfect for catching up with mates or marking a milestone. On the flip side, the website's a bit underwhelming; it's not packed with info, so you might have to do a bit more legwork to plan your visit. And while it's open seven days, those closing times can feel early, which might cramp your style if you're after a lingering evening. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're in the area and fancy treating yourself, but worth keeping those timings in mind to avoid disappointment.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch, with delicious dishes like scallops in Parma ham and creamy pea soup that leave you wanting more.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home with their warm service and thoughtful touches like complimentary drinks for special occasions.
  • It's a fantastic spot for celebrations, with a chic aviary-themed decor that's spacious and beautifully presented, perfect for a memorable night out.
  • Cocktails and mocktails are fantastic, offering a great start to the evening and adding that extra sparkle to your visit.
  • Service is quick and efficient, so you won't be left waiting around for your meal.
Cons
  • The website is a bit basic and doesn't offer much detail, so you might need to pop in or call ahead to get the full picture on the menu or events.
  • Closing times can seem a tad early, which might not suit those looking for a late-night spot after a show or something.
  • It's tucked away on the high street in Hornchurch, so if you're not local, it could take a bit of effort to get to compared to busier town centres.

How have a lived in hornchurch this long and not been to The Aviary before??? So first visit for me last night for a celebratory meal with the better half. ..the cocktails were fantastic, and a great pre cursor to what was a fabulous meal. I had the scallops in parma ham starter, whilst the wife enjoyed the very flavoursome croquettes. Moving on to our mains, the waitress advised that there was a few changes to the menu and that chateaubriand had been added. I didn't need telling twice so that became our main, with a side of truffle fries, and a complimentary bottle of vino. Panna cotta for dessert left us both brimmed. All in all a very nice evening and will definitely return to sample some of the many other tempting dishes..

The place is beautiful inside, seating is spacious and the table is neatly set out. Staff are polite and produced fast paced service. The soup of the day was a creamy pea soup which is definitely recommend and quite filing. The marinated olives & sundried tomatoes and the steam broccoli did have a lot of oil on them but they still tasted good. We requested the bruschetta to be vegan and they did a great job as looked and tasted good.

From the time my friend and I entered the restaurant to when we left, the Owner, his family and Team were warm, friendly, attentive and provided fantastic service. Food was amazing! All freshly cooked. The restaurant decor is chic with the aviary theme running through to lighting, etc. There was such a lovely, warm, relaxing atmosphere. The owner of the restaurant took time in explaining the fab food and creating unique cocktails according to our taste. We can't wait to go back - this is our new favourite restaurant :-)
