About This Pub

Ah, The Ashley Worksop, part of the Hungry Horse bunch, is one of those pubs that really warms you up on a chilly evening or brightens a family day out. From what I've gathered from chats with fellow pub enthusiasts, the food is a real highlight – think hearty meals packed with flavour that go down a treat, especially with the kids in tow. The staff are always up for a laugh and make you feel right at home, which is just lovely when you're settling in for a bite or to catch the latest match. It's got all the right touches for a good time, like outdoor play areas and sports on the telly, making it a go-to for groups of all sorts. On the downside, you might pop in excited for a specific dish only to find it's sold out, or an unplanned event could throw off your evening plans, like when someone wanted a simple darts session but got a surprise DJ instead. Still, with its solid 4.1 rating and welcoming feel, it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother trip. All in all, it's a dependable spot for a relaxed get-together, as long as you go in with realistic expectations.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food and drinks are absolutely spot on – plenty of flavoursome options that leave you feeling satisfied.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • It's a fantastic family-friendly spot with things like soft play and outdoor areas, perfect for keeping the little ones entertained.
  • The atmosphere is just right for watching sports or enjoying a relaxed evening with friends, with great facilities like Sky Sports on the screens.
Cons
  • Occasionally, they run out of popular menu items, which can put a dampener on your choices.
  • Some events, like a DJ turning up unexpectedly, might disrupt what you had planned, such as a quiet game of darts.
  • There have been a few grumbles about portion sizes not always hitting the mark, leaving you wanting a bit more.

I enjoy coming here because the food and drinks are amazing, the staff members are friendly and nice to interact with and the environment is perfect for having a good time with family and friends whether it’s for watching sports or playing some games. The place is very welcoming overall so I enjoy this place very much. 100% recommend if anyone is wanting to visit for the first time

Had a lovely meal tonight. There was 7 of us including 3 kids. Had starters mains and the kids all had pudding. Everybody's meal was really nice and had really good service from everybody. The kids especially love Georgia even though she wasn't serving us tonight, she made time to say hello the them and it made their night. Would definitely recommend

If I could give less I would I was very disgusted in the fact that we had turned up to play darts and some (DJ) who sounded like he had pre recorded Capital FM turned up and ruined our fun. This wouldn’t have been an issue if we were able to play for a few hours or there was a notice on the door letting me know this was going to happen we wouldn’t have paid for drinks (which the manager refused to give us a refund for) which she said in a horrible attitude. Even worse the ‘DJ’ could’ve set up his decks some place else so that we could’ve both got what we wanted he could play his radio show and we could play darts. Horrible never coming here ever again had an awful 10 minutes. As you can also see in the photo he just sat on his phone for the length it took us to finish our drinks (1h 23m) and probably longer but we left we couldn’t listen to the horrible mix up any longer not even if the pub paid us. Also using the toilets the check sheet hadn’t been updated since opening. Grim🤮🤮

A group of us had a table booked for 7 o'clock on Friday evening. The lady who showed us to our table was lovely. I chose my meal and went to the bar to order. I was told there were no flat breads left so I had to pick a different meal . I chose salmon with sweet potato fries and coleslaw which I really enjoyed. I think when it's busy they could have more staff on but the staff who did serve us and wait on us were very polite. There was one lady walking in and out of the kitchen she had blonde hair and glasses who looked really miserable I'm not sure if she was a manger.

We visited this pub for a family meal (5 adults and 2 children) and had a great experience with both the food and the service. It’s a lovely family-friendly venue with plenty of spacious seating areas for dining, while another section offers a classic pub atmosphere with Sky Sports on large screens, a dartboard, and pool tables. The service was friendly and efficient, and the meal portions were generous. The menu had a wide variety of options, including plenty of deals and offers. When my wife wasn’t happy with her fish and chips, the staff promptly replaced it with another meal at no extra cost, which we really appreciated. There’s ample parking, and the pub also features a Wacky Warehouse for kids, though we couldn’t try it as it was closed during our visit. Overall, I highly recommend this pub for families. It’s a great spot with something for everyone!
