About This Pub
Ah, The Ale Wagon in Leicester – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper hidden gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this brilliant lineup of real ales and ciders that really hit the spot, especially if you're after something authentic and well-poured. The staff sound dead friendly, always up for a chat, and the prices are spot on – nothing too pricey, which is a relief these days. I love the idea of settling in by a real fire on a nippy evening, and they even serve up hot pies, so you can make a proper night of it without needing to head elsewhere. On the flip side, it does have that classic old-school charm, which might not appeal to everyone; some folks have mentioned it could feel a tad outdated if you're after something more contemporary or if you're not big on cask beers. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.4, it's clear most people leave with a smile, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area and fancy a pint in a welcoming spot that keeps things traditional without any fuss.

An old school pub which may seem a little strange to the younger beer enthusiast but which is well worth a try due to wide range of proper beers on tap. Reasonable prices too.
Came to this pub as they do real cider, They had 3 on at the time.
It has a real fire and does hot pies. Would deffo return here.
Nice proper pub, friendly staff , good beers and reasonable prices.
Very good pub not far from Leicester Railway Station. Seven cask beers - and 1 cider - on handpump when I last visited including a black IPA. Quiet after the Spurs game at the King Power.

The simple fact that they evidently threw someone out for ordering a vodka Redbull is reason enough to come here. Apart from that it's a very traditional pub, with a wide variety of beers, some locally crafted. Made the mistake of ordering one of them, not my particular cup of tea that one, but each to his own. Sat next to a slow burning coal fire, enjoyed the experience.
