About This Pub
Ah, The Acorn – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its welcoming atmosphere and that genuine sense of being part of the neighbourhood in Wirral. I have to say, the food's a highlight; they've got these fresh, sizzling skillets and burgers that are just spot on, and it's brilliant how they keep things affordable with daily offers and options for everyone, including veggies. The staff seem to genuinely enjoy what they're doing, which always makes for a more relaxed visit, and it's lovely knowing they're involved in local causes. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few grumbles about things like the salads not having as much variety as they used to, and it can get a bit lively with the sports on the telly or families about, which might not suit if you're after a peaceful pint. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for a good night out – just go in with the right expectations, and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff at The Acorn are always so friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
They've got a great selection of fresh, quality food on offer, including some lovely vegan and vegetarian choices, all at honest, fair prices that won't break the bank.
-
It's a proper community spot, supporting local charities and even offering their function area for free to groups – really nice to see a pub giving back.
-
The pub grub is spot on, with sizzling skillets and flame-grilled burgers that hit the spot, plus daily deals that make it easy on the wallet.
-
It's a fantastic place for catching up with mates over a drink, watching some sport, or enjoying a family meal in a relaxed setting.
Cons
-
Some of the menu items, like the salad bowls, can feel a bit lacking in variety these days, which might disappoint if you're after something more substantial.
-
It can get quite noisy at times, especially with the TVs blasting sports and families around, so it's not always the quietest spot for a chat.
-
There have been occasional hiccups, like missing ingredients for certain drinks or past instances of rowdiness that might put some folks off.
-
Service is generally good, but if it's busy, things might not always come out as quickly as you'd hope, based on a few experiences shared.

Ordered crunchy salad bowl, only consisted of lettuce cucumber and tomatoes l ordered the steak to go on top, would have thought the would of been more to the salad really it used to have a lot of variety in it thats why l chose it,but honestly wont be ordering it again
Food was all out in a reasonable time, we ordered starters mains and dessert. Everything was cooked nice and presented well.
The team all were looking like they were the having fun whilst working even though it was a steady flow we off customer's whilst we were there.
it was the manager that served me and waitress were Paige and Lauren who were all very nice, when adding on desert's a young lad with long hair served me he was also polite and informative, but he could do with a hair cut.
Thanks to kitchen team always a forgotten about side of the business you did a great job food was lovely and well presented.
Thanks Team Acorn
Me and family all enjoyed are visit we will be back.
Visited for drinks and then evening meal. Good food, not overpriced, good service. Was quite loud as both football and darts were on TVs in another room and there were quite a few families with children. But a great place for good food if you do have children and/or like sport. Wasn't so loud that it put us off though so would recommend & will be visiting again when we're back in the area.
I've been having the chicken and bacon salad bowl for as long as I can remember although granted I haven't been in for a while after a bad experience a while ago, nothing to do with the food it was all the swearing and rowdiness we witnessed while there. Anyway we thought we'd give it another go because as I say I loved the salad bowl 🥗
Well they've changed the recipe and although it was very nice, fresh and plentiful it just wasn't the same as it once was, it is now just a basic salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, cabbage and red onion. Very nice but nothing special, it used to have quinoa and other delights but alas no more. We also ordered 2 lots of fish, chips and mushy peas and they were really nice, piping hot fresh fish which had lovely white flesh in a beautiful light and crispy batter. We will be visiting again.
Decent pub with decent food and decent prices. Was a little miffed they didn't have the ingredients for my free woo woo but can't be helped.
