About This Pub
Ah, Riddicks Sports Bar – it's one of those places that just hits the spot if you're after a laid-back afternoon or evening out in South Shields. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff really shine; they're described as brilliant and friendly, going out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick breakfast or settling in for the game. The atmosphere is spot on for sports fans, with loads of TVs showing the action and a good buzz even during tense matches. Plus, it's comfy and clean, and the prices are fair – a pint for £4 is always a win. They've even got food available from 10am, which is handy if you're starting early. On the flip side, there was that one off-putting moment with a doorman being a tad abrupt, which might put a dampener on things for some folks. Still, with most people raving about it, I'd say it's worth giving a go for a casual catch-up, as long as you keep expectations realistic – after all, no place is perfect, but this one's got a lot going for it.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in
-
It's got a brilliant atmosphere for watching sports, with plenty of TVs and a lively vibe even during big games like Man U vs Spurs
-
The place is comfy and clean, perfect for relaxing with a pint or catching up with mates
-
Drinks are affordably priced, like a pint of Madri for just £4, and they serve food from 10am to 6pm, including nice breakfast options
-
It's a family-friendly spot, ideal for a casual meet-up without any fuss
Cons
-
There was an unfortunate incident with a doorman being a bit rude to an older chap about his cap, which soured the experience for some
-
With only a handful of reviews, it might not have the buzz or online info you'd expect, making it tricky to get the full picture beforehand

A nice breakfast and friendly staff
The 2 girls behind the bar were brilliant. Good atmosphere for the fame aswell even though it was Man U v Spurs
All was ok until a rather rude doorman went over to a guy of 69 and asked him to remove his flat cap , the guy had been to the bar several times and staff had served him without mention of him wearing his cap , the doorman came over to the table were he was sat and said can you take your cap off , the old guy begrudgingly took off his cap, now I could of understood had the guy been in his 20s wearing a baseball cap but we're talking and old guy of 69 having a quiet pint watching the racing on TV , I'm told the manager is the same guy who had the novelist and had stupid dress codes in there too ( which no longer exist ) he needs to remember RIDDICKS is advertised as a sports bar so as such your going to get people in watching football will you ask groups of people to remove their hats if for instance their watching a world cup game ? Because with a policy like that RIDDICKS will get a reputation for petty rules and people will go elsewhere
Popped in for quick first visit.
