About This Pub
Ah, the Radcliffe Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Hitchin. I've heard from loads of folks that the craft beers are a real highlight, with a fantastic range that'll keep you coming back for more. Pair that with their scorching stone-baked pizzas and hearty roasts, and you're in for a treat; it's all about that shared, feel-good dining experience. The staff are genuinely lovely, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the cosy, creative atmosphere. They've got live sports on the screens, plenty of outdoor seating for a sunny day, and fun events like quiz nights or those tempting deals on Mondays – it's perfect for gathering with mates or even the family, especially with perks like kids eating for a quid. On the flip side, though, it's worth noting that things can get a bit sticky with table bookings sometimes, like if you're settled in and suddenly need to shift, which might put a dampener on things. Overall, it's a solid spot with a high rating for a reason, but just keep an eye on the details to make the most of it – I'd say it's well worth a visit for a relaxed pint and a bite!

I would like to say thanks for the range of wonderful beers at your pub.
My friend and I arrived at 3:15 (I know this as his train arrived not long before). We proceeded to chat and drink through ‘til 6 when one of your colleagues, plonked a sign on our table and said, that the table is now reserved from 7pm and so we’d have an hour left. There was no question as to whether we would be staying (we had started to think about eating there) or the fact that we had already been there for around 3 hours.
Come 7pm we were approached by a man who asked us to move as he had booked the table. Three of them sat down, and started to watch the football. We had nowhere to sit, could not watch the game and had to leave the pub. We felt that we had been kicked out.
At the time, we see no other tables in that area being reserved and it seemed to us that the three men had called the pub, booked the best table for the football (they showed no menus or signs of wishing to eat at the time) and your staff complied, and indirectly evicted us. I can’t think of a pub that would move people away from a table so that another group could take their place to watch the screen.
I sent this in an email. It was polite and intended to make a constructive point but the email was ignored. We won't be going back.
Lovely place with great food!
We had a great time at The Radcliffe Arms in Hitchin. The food was absolutely delicious – especially the pizza, which is cooked in their own oven and full of flavour. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent. The interior is cosy and creative, with beautiful wooden details and a glass ceiling that lets in lots of natural light, and unique bucket-style pendant lights that add a fun, rustic touch. Highly recommend!
Great pub before entering the town from the train station. Good prices and selection of drinks. Plenty of seating areas, including outside. Sports tv available in and outdoors. Served by friendly staff. Keep an eye out for the hanging pictures!
I love The Radcliffe! This pub is a hidden gem in Hitchin. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious, especially the roasts! My roast chicken was cooked to perfection and don’t get me started on the gravy! So good!
I hired out the back room for my wife’s birthday. I had previously dropped off a cake and candles so we could could surprise her.
Your member of staff ‘Harmony’ was brilliant! She was friendly, happy and a pleasure to have her help us. She delivered the cake with lit candles and kept the tables clear. She also served behind the bar and put up with all our changes.
Please send my thanks to Harmony, she was amazing!!
