About This Pub

Ah, the Prince of Wales – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles, you know? From the reviews, it's clear folks absolutely love the place; the staff are proper legends, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels welcome, like you're part of the gang. You've got all the classics here – a good old pool table, darts board, and sports showing on the screens, which makes it brilliant for a casual night out or catching the match with mates. The beers are spot on, nice and cold without breaking the bank, and it's got that genuine pub feel that's hard to find nowadays, especially with the great management keeping things ticking over smoothly. On the flip side, it's not everyone's cup of tea if you're after something a bit flashier or with more of a modern twist – it's all about that straightforward, no-nonsense vibe. Plus, it's tucked away in Brixton Hill, so if you're not in the area, it might take a bit of effort to get to, and the online presence isn't the strongest, which means you might have to rely on word of mouth or a quick visit to see what's what. Overall, though, it's a real gem for anyone craving an honest, affordable pint and a bit of camaraderie – I'd say give it a go if you're in South London; you won't be disappointed!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got that authentic old-school pub vibe with a pool table, darts, and sports on the telly, perfect for a relaxed evening.
  • Beers are cold, affordable, and there's a great selection, especially the Guinness which gets rave reviews.
  • The atmosphere is spot on – lively on weekends with a real community feel, and it's easy to strike up a chat with fellow visitors during the week.
  • As a Brakspear pub, it's managed well and offers that classic British pub experience that's becoming rarer these days.
Cons
  • From what we've seen, there aren't many complaints, but it might not suit those after something more modern or trendy, as it's all about traditional charm.
  • The location in Brixton Hill could be a bit out of the way if you're not local, though it's worth the trip for a proper pint.
  • Online details are a tad sparse – we had trouble accessing the website content, so you might need to pop in for the full scoop rather than checking ahead.

I got a wonderful, friendly welcome from the landlord as I ordered from the bar. Go here and experience it for yourself you won't regret it.

It was like a dream. Cold beers, nice people, and good mood. A real pub, with real people, real stories. And if that's not enough, you have the magnificent Connor, the best guy in the neighborhood, and, as we defined him: a fallen angel that shows you the path to happiness. Cheers for Prince of Wales and best wishes from Argentina!

This is a proper pub, the type that’s very very hard to find these days. It’s friendly, cheap, shows sport, pool table, dart board and jukebox. Old school vibe and customer service. Love it

Absolutely great nights. Bar staff are friendly and funny. Great atmosphere at weekends, throughout the week I can come in and have a chat with random people and feel like a friend. Beer is cheap compared to main Brixton or Clapham. Slowly becoming my local
