About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about the Pride of Bridlington – it's one of those classic fish and chips places that really warms your cockles on a chilly day in East Yorkshire. I've heard from mates that the team there are absolute gems, always cheerful and happy to whip up your order even if you're cutting it fine before they shut up shop. The food itself is spot on most of the time; fresh fish that's flaky and chips that are just the right amount of crispy, plus those extras like thick gravy or curry sauce that make it feel like proper comfort food. It's not fancy, but that's the beauty of it – affordable and filling, perfect for a quick bite after a walk by the quay. On the flip side, though, some have had a rough go with overly greasy dishes that leave you feeling a bit heavy, and there are tales of pricing not quite adding up, which can be a bit of a letdown. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're in the area and fancy something traditional, but maybe pop in with an open mind and keep an eye on the details to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to serve with a smile, even close to closing time.
  • The food is fresh and well-cooked – think award-winning fish and chips that hit the spot, with generous portions and options like fresh peas, curry, or gravy.
  • It's affordably priced, making it a brilliant choice for a casual meal without breaking the bank.
  • With a strong overall rating, it's clear this place knows how to deliver consistently tasty grub that's hot and satisfying.
Cons
  • Some folks have mentioned the food can be a bit greasy at times, which might put you off if you're after something lighter.
  • There could be occasional mix-ups with pricing, like the board not matching what's charged, so it's worth double-checking.
  • The operating hours seem a tad confusing from what's listed, which might lead to a few surprises if you're planning a visit.

Friendly service here yesterday just 10mins before closing, but still happy to fry on demand. Good food, well cooked, well-priced and nice server... top marks.

The food was nice to be honest, but the either the price board behind the counter is out of date or the person behind the till doesn't how to calculate properly. I ordered medium fish and chips, large sausage, chip buttie, curry sauce which came to £19.95 but going off prices on the board it should of come to around £16.95.

Travelled over to the coast to spend some time with my mum on Mother’s Day. We decided to have fish and chips and unfortunately we wish we hadn’t. The fish and chips here were so greasy, the paper wrapping was soaking, the taste was clouded in all the grease . I never leave fish and chips but on this occasion I had too. And to add Salt to the wound, it was the most expensive fish and chips I have ever purchased. I’m afraid I would not recommend.

In town for the weekend and was recommended this fish shop. We ordered two budget meals (£7.50/each), small chip, and kids sausage meal, and gravy (£24.10 in total) and were very pleased with the portions. Fish was nice and flaky, gravy was thick, and food was hot. Service was friendly and food didn't take long. Was only there a few minutes and staff knew almost everyone who came in so it must have a nice, loyal customer base. Chips were a little greasy and fish was a bit dark as if the oil needed to be changed. But everyone was happy with their food and we would go back.
