About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about the Premier Inn in Ashington – it's one of those places that feels like a reliable old mate when you're after a straightforward, no-fuss stay with some decent dining options. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff really shine through; they're warm, helpful, and quick to fix any booking blunders or provide extras like an extra towel or even moving you to a ground-floor room if needed. The rooms are clean and comfy, with those views of the lakeside spot next to Queen Elizabeth Country Park adding a lovely touch to your morning cuppa. And the food? Well, it's generally a hit – folks rave about the excellent meals and breakfast, with some sweet surprises like gifts for the little ones. But, to keep it real, it's not all perfect; a few have noted that the rooms can be a bit echoey, picking up sounds from next door, and there might be moments when the place feels stretched thin with staffing, plus the odd dish that's not quite as hot as you'd hope. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone popping by for a night or two, especially if you're exploring the area, but just bear those little downsides in mind for a smoother visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, always going the extra mile to sort out any mix-ups or special requests.
-
Rooms are clean and comfortable, with lovely views if you opt for one, making it a great spot for a peaceful overnight stay.
-
The food in the restaurant is generally spot on, with tasty options and even little touches like Easter gifts that add a nice surprise.
-
Free parking and Wi-Fi make it convenient, and the location next to Queen Elizabeth Country Park is perfect for a quick getaway.
Cons
-
Some rooms aren't the most soundproof, so you might hear a bit more than you'd like from neighbouring stays.
-
There can be times when the team seems a tad understaffed, leading to a busier atmosphere than ideal.
-
Occasionally, the food might not be piping hot, as one person mentioned with their curry, which is a bit disappointing.

Booked a last minute room for the next day. Accommodating staff after I made a mistake on my booking (said 1 person instead of 2), providing an extra towel. Bog standard room but all we needed for one night. Lovely big bed but would say the room was not overly soundproof - could hear exactly what people were saying if they were in the corridor. Close to local attractions without being in the middle of a town and was cheaper than the ones elsewhere in the area.
Stayed here for 2 nights, staff were very friendly, room was clean and tidy and food was excellent.
I had back surgery, so on the 2nd nights we got moved to ground floor and everything was smooth as.
An excellent stay and would definitely recommend.
A two night family stay, used the hotel as our base as it was central to the places we wished to visit. Staff were friendly and helpful but were very busy due to being understaffed. Rooms were clean and basic, no noise could be heard from the road outside. Lovely little easter gift left for our child in our room on arrival, food in the attached restaurant was standard pub food, not the best I've eaten but perfectly edible, nice little clean soft play for our 1yr old to play on, within the restaurant area. Beautiful scenic Lake to take a stroll around at our leisure. We would stay again.
Been staying at this hotel regularly over the years when working in the area. Always have a warm welcome. Very friendly and courteous staff, lovely room, nice food from the pub adjoining the hotel. They even put an iron and ironing board in my room in advance as they knew I always ask for one. Cannot fault this hotel, one of my favourite Premier Inn hotels ever! Gorgeous walk around the lake too, and many types of water birds to be seen etc.
Had a family meal here in early Jan 2024. The staff were extremely warm and engaging which is a perfect way to set up an experience. The food was decent enough. My curry came in one of those metal bowls, which was not hot and the curry was warm rather than hot. Everyone else seemed to enjoy it. We went for desert and many went for the sundaes which looked great, but when you looked closely were no more than 50% full. There were huge gaps in the glass with the cream sprayed on the top. It wasn't a one off, all of them were like this. We weren't in the cheap menu time slot, so a bit poor really. The toilets were a bit grim with both gents cubicle filled up with toilet roll and one urinal taped over with unpleasant leaks under it. We reported it, but don't know how long they were like that. Serving staff were 5* though.
