About This Pub
Ah, Open Mind in Carlisle – it's one of those places that just draws you in with its easy-going charm. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the staff are absolute gems, always greeting you with a smile and making sure you're looked after, which really sets the tone for a pleasant visit. The atmosphere is spot on for a laid-back afternoon or evening; imagine settling in with a good book while others are enjoying board games or even a bit of impromptu singing – it's all very relaxed and inclusive. And let's not forget the drinks and food; the cocktails, like that Jaffa Cake number, sound utterly divine, and the burritos get high praise too, making it a solid choice for a cheeky bite alongside your pint. Plus, being dog-friendly adds a nice touch if you're popping in with your furry companion. On the flip side, though, the upstairs toilets might pose a challenge for those who aren't keen on stairs, so it's worth bearing in mind if accessibility is a concern. All in all, it's a lovely little spot for a casual get-together, but like any place, it's not perfect – still, the positives far outweigh the niggles, and I'd say it's well worth a try if you're in the area for a proper pub experience.

We went for a couple of drinks before catching the train. Staff were friendly, beer was standard supply, toilets upstairs would be a struggle for anyone with mobility issues to get to. Will probably go again.
I had a wonderful afternoon. It was a really nice atmosphere with a friendly team. It was nice to be able to sit and read a book while people around me were playing board games, pampering their pooch... there were even a couple of quiet murmurings of song from one table... the songs played were just right!
The choice of drinks was good, there were many flavours of mocktail to choose from which I always appreciate. Food was simple but effective and service was quick and always with a smile.
I will definitely be returning!
My first visit here. Helpful and friendly staff. A small, tidy bar with aircon for those who wanted to cool off. We chose a table outside to make the most of the evening sunshine and warmth. It's a great place to watch the world go by and the modified vehicles traverse the city. Located opposite the Citadel it's a great first stop off the bus or train. Has a good range of gins available and offers cocktails by the jug to share. Will definitely go again.
The jaffa cake cocktail and black forrest cocktail are the most delicious drinks I have ever treated myself to.
This gaffe is dog friendly and serves delicious food.
Would defiantly recommend the chipotle chicken burritos.
Friend staff and quick service.
This place is absolutely perfect for cheeky cocktails with a friendly safe atmosphere.
I recommend the jaffa cake cocktail, it actually taste like a jaffa cake.
Every single time I've been here, it's been friendly, welcoming and had a wonderful atmosphere. Downstairs they have a dj booth and area for a band and upstairs a room of armchairs and sofas full of nooks and crannies for chats and catch ups. Love it.
Edit: we ate here and it's incredible. Really, really good food, homemade soup to die for.
