About This Pub

Ah, O'Neill's Northampton – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a warm hug when you walk in, with that classic Irish charm and a pint of good craic waiting for you. From what I've gathered from the reviews and the buzz around it, the staff really stand out; they're polite, accommodating, and go the extra mile, like suggesting alternatives when something's not available or whipping up drinks with a smile. The food's a winner too – think fresh, hearty meals that hit the spot, especially with those tempting deals on drinks that make it wallet-friendly for a night out. It's brilliant for watching the big match or enjoying some live music, and the location's spot on for a quick stop while you're out and about. On the flip side, though, it seems like ordering food at the bar can sometimes lead to a wait if you don't use the app, which might put a dampener on things if you're in a rush. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good time with friends, and with an average rating pushing 4.2, it's clear most folks leave with a smile – just pop in prepared, and you'll likely have a cracking visit!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and helpful, like that chap Mitchy who suggested the French toast and made my visit memorable.
  • The food is spot on; fresh, hot, and delicious, with great deals like the student offers on drinks that make it a bargain.
  • It's got a lively atmosphere with live sport, fantastic music, and plenty of events, perfect for a big night out or catching up with mates.
  • Smack in the heart of Northampton, it's easy to get to, and the place is clean and comfortable with nice outdoor seating areas.
Cons
  • There might be a bit of a faff with ordering food at the bar; one experience mentioned it was quicker for others using the app, so that could slow things down if you're not prepared.
  • While most visits are top-notch, it seems like service can vary, as not every review was glowing, though that's pretty standard for any spot.

Before I start, if you visit here please use the app to order your food. I say this because we went as a group of five, we ordered our food at the bar, we sat down, the people behind us had finished putting thier order in on the app, another table also arrived and did the same, well......... the people on the next table had thier food, had eaten it and some of them had left and we were still waiting for our food. When we ordered the food we were told that there would be a 30minute wait, fair enough, it happens, it was just coming up to nearly an hour, when I went to ask if our food was going to be ready soon, she told me it would be a bit longer because a few orders had come in over the app, I explained our order had gone in before at least one or two of them so the lovely lady went to check. Ten minutes later our food arrived, one steak was hot on a piping hot plate, my steak, typical, was luke warm, the mushrooms, peas and tomato were also luke warm, but I had hot chips!!!!!! The gammon was lovely, the loaded chicken breast was warm and lovely, the fish was so so. I don't think I would go out of the way to eat here again, the food was tasty even if it wasnt warm for me, but I will not be forced to have yet another app on my phone just to have my food put on the table in a reasonable amount of time. The other problem we had is that one of our group was diabetic, he could not inject until he knew roughly when the food was coming.
