About This Pub

Ah, O'Neill's in Bristol – what a spot for a proper night out with friends! I have to say, the staff really make the place; they're so welcoming and on point, always ready with a smile and great recommendations, just like those reviews mentioned with Madhvi and the team going above and beyond. The food's a winner too – think fresh, tasty dishes that hit the spot, whether it's a pizza or something more substantial, and paired with solid drinks deals, it's easy to see why folks keep coming back. Plus, with all those screens for live sports, it's brilliant for catching the game in a lively setting. But, on the flip side, it does ramp up the energy quite a bit, especially mid-week or on Fridays, turning into a full-on party scene with noise and shots everywhere, which isn't everyone's cup of tea if you're hoping for a quiet pint. Overall, it's a solid choice for a fun evening, as long as you go in knowing what you're getting – the good vibes outweigh the bustle for me, but it's worth checking if it suits your mood!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – super friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • They've got a cracking selection of food, from tasty pizzas and twister fries to hearty meals, all freshly cooked and full of flavour.
  • It's got a lively Irish atmosphere with great music, live sports on big screens, and plenty of space for groups to enjoy a good night out.
  • Drinks offers are spot on, with a wide range of beers and spirits that keep the good times flowing.
  • The vibe is perfect for watching the big match or celebrating with mates, with that classic Irish charm that lifts your spirits.
Cons
  • It can get pretty noisy and chaotic, especially on busy Friday nights, which might not be ideal if you're after a more relaxed chat.
  • They don't always show the specific sports events you might request, so you could be disappointed if that's your main reason for going.
  • The focus on party vibes and trays of shots wandering around means it feels more geared towards a lively crowd, which might overwhelm if you're in the mood for something quieter.

Nothing fundamentally wrong with this place if you’re after a vertical-drinking centred very loud Friday night venue with lots of shots being sold from trays wandering around the pub. A friend and I reserved a table in advance and requested a rugby match to be on. No rugby provided (asked about it a couple of times) and no segregation of tables from main area so impossible to sit and have a conversation.

Visited O’Neills in Bristol Sunday early evening time. Helpful, friendly staff, a good vibe, varied menu, good food, pizza, twister fries, ham eggs and chips, good quality food, freshly cooked, very tasty. Good quality drinks. A large bar with a lot of floor space, so suitable for bigger groups, big screens with sporting events, and pool table.

Visited O’Neill’s for the first time and was really impressed. Madhvi was our server and she was brilliant—super friendly and very attentive. She made sure we were comfortable and even helped us choose some great drinks. Definitely coming back soon! :))

What can I say, overall a great place! Food is ok, staff are absolutely phenomenal! Kartikk is such beer hero! As well as Charlie, Rory and Madhvi who go up and beyond for the customers. Service at the bar has always been friendly chatty and a welcoming manner. I would 110% recommend this place for a beer!
