About This Pub
Ah, Olde England – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles the moment you step inside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food's a real highlight; folks are raving about the Sunday roasts and other homemade treats that are spot-on and generously portioned, especially with extras like gravy on tap. Pair that with a fantastic range of real ales that keep things interesting and won't dent your wallet, and you've got a winner for a laid-back evening. The staff really shine too – they're friendly, attentive, and add that extra touch of personality with a good chat or a cheeky pun. Plus, the place has this lovely rustic charm, with events like folk music or history talks that make it feel alive and community-oriented. On the flip side, though, the opening hours do seem a tad messy, with conflicting times and it being shut one day a week, so you might need to plan ahead to avoid disappointment. And let's not forget, their online presence is a bit wonky, which could make checking for updates a hassle. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after an authentic pub experience with heart, but it might not be ideal for those wanting something more consistent or flashy. I'd say give it a go if you're in Northampton – you might just find your new favourite spot!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely brilliant – think mouthwatering Sunday roasts and customisable options like cheese steak on homemade chips, all done to perfection.
-
Staff are so welcoming and chatty; they're always up for a laugh and make you feel right at home.
-
A cracking selection of real ales that change regularly, and at prices that won't break the bank.
-
The atmosphere is pure charm, with a quaint, rustic feel across three floors and fun events like folk music or board games to keep things lively.
-
It's affordably priced, offering no-frills grub that's hearty and satisfying without any fuss.
Cons
-
The opening hours can be a bit confusing with varying times listed, and it's only open six days a week, which might catch you out if you're after a midweek pint.
-
Their website seems to have some issues, making it tricky to get the latest info before heading over.
-
While everything's glowing from the reviews, it does feel like it might not suit everyone if you're looking for a more modern or everyday spot, as it's got that traditional pub vibe.

Delicious Sunday Roast with me ole mucker Liam (pictured) on way to T20 cricket down yonder Wantage Road. Extra gravy readily served up. Great service. Highly recommended.
Just had an amazing meal here. So glad they're doing food again (fri-sun). The kitchen staff are so friendly and accommodating. They did me cheese steak on their home made chips instead of a baguette and it was absolutely banging. Highly recommend!
Been coming to the Olde England since it opened. They've recently started serving food again and the Sunday roasts are out of this world! Real Ale is excellent, with an ever changing variety on offer. Staff are really friendly too, and always up for a chat (and a good pun). I cannot recommend this place enough
Quaint little pub with beautiful decor and great real ale selection. Often has something going on such as folk music, history talks, board games, and craft groups. Food is absolutely stunning. No frills, affordable, and very well done. The barman is friendly and attentive and does not allow any nonsense to spoil the lovely atmosphere of the pub. (Also if you like silly puns he's your guy). I had my 30th birthday there and it was absolutely wonderful. Literally my favourite place to go in Northampton. If it ever closed I would grieve forever!
There is a great selection of beers and at a very good price. Recently introduced menu has lured me in a few times. Love tge mushy peas test came with my Veggie sausages and mash.
Building has a beautiful charm. Looks small from the outside but 3 floors of rustic charm.
