About This Pub
Ah, Murphy's Bar, what a gem in Leamington Spa – I've got to say, it's one of those places that really hits the mark for a relaxed pint or a solid meal without the fuss. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the breakfasts are an absolute highlight; folks rave about the full Irish or English options, which are packed with flavour and come at prices that make you wonder why you'd go anywhere else. The staff are just brilliant, always cheerful and on point, making you feel right at home. Plus, the drink selection is spot on, with a great range of ales and lagers, and the music adds a nice touch to the lively vibe. On the flip side, though, it's not all perfect – some people have mentioned getting caught out by unclear portion sizes on certain sides, like ending up with just a few items for a bit more cash than expected, which can leave a sour note. And it does get heaving at times, so if you're after a quiet corner, you might have to time your visit just right. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for good value and a welcoming spot, but keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The breakfasts are absolutely brilliant – think top-notch full Irish or English brekkies that leave you feeling chuffed and ready for the day.
-
Prices are spot on for a good night out or a casual meal; it's one of those places where you get real value without breaking the bank.
-
Staff are lovely and welcoming, always up for a chat, which makes the whole experience feel warm and friendly.
-
A cracking selection of ales, lagers, and Guinness, paired with decent music that keeps the vibe lively without being overwhelming.
-
It's a proper mixed crowd, from young folks to the older generation, so it feels inclusive and buzzing no matter when you pop in.
Cons
-
Some menu items, like side dishes, can be a bit vague on portions – you might end up paying for what feels like not quite enough, which is a tad disappointing.
-
It can get pretty packed, especially during busy times, so you might have to jostle for space or wait a bit longer for service.

Not a bad a restaurant in itself, nothing to say about the service. However I really didn’t appreciate that they don’t specify how many items are on the side dish you order. Spending 7,5 for 3 poor haggis bonbon, and when you ask how many veg nems you get in your order you’re told “4 to 5”. Thought they’d at least know for sure how many. I would definitely tell you to be warned bc apparently when you tell them to next time specify on the menu, they seem to think there’s nothing wrong with the way it’s done.
Save your money by being warned.
Food wasn’t bad.
The best breakfast I’ve ever had and the service is great and the bar staff are lovely 😍😍😍
A diamond boozer, as we used to say back in London - this local gem puts many bars and restaurants to shame with its low prices and quality cooked breakfast and mains. The full Irish is brilliant value - a mega for just £8 including a tea, coffee, hot chocolate or juice is easily the cheapest around and uses quality ingredients to boot - two sausages, two bacon, two eggs plus mushrooms, hash browns, beans, tomatoes and toast. The mains list is plain but tasty, I recommend the jerk chicken (Jamaican origin chef) or the burger (house ground beef by the proprietors). You can add egg, bacon, cheese for no extra charge! Burger, chips and salad for £8.
They have a good range of beers and needless to say, the Guinness is well kept and delicious. Evenings are for drinking and good times. Quiet most mornings and weekday lunch times, when it's suitable for kids and dogs.
A treasure.
Great bar, with very good choice of ales, lagers and nice Guinness. Good music too! Cheers!!
Great bar whether it's for a full English or Irish breakfast in the morning or if you're drinking and partying into the night. Friendly staff and reasonably priced food and drink. Regulars are from a diverse range from old to young. Never had any trouble in here that I have seen.
It can get very crowded which is the only reason this favourite bar of mine has 4 out of 5 stars. Area downstairs with pool tables which I gathered was more for the younger lot. Quirky decor which I loved. Step going down into the ladies loo does make you have to 'concentrate' on where your stepping after a few bevvies but overall a must to go to when your in Leamington.
