About This Pub

Ah, Merlin’s Sports Bar – it's one of those places that just hits the spot if you're a sports nut like me. Picture this: you're settled in with a cold pint, surrounded by massive HD screens blasting the latest footie or rugby action, and the buzz of fellow fans cheering along. It's got this relaxed, sociable feel where you can easily chat with friends or dive into a game of snooker or pool on their well-kept tables – and at prices that won't sting your wallet. The staff are absolute gems, always up for a laugh and quick to sort you out, which really adds to the warm welcome. Plus, that balcony with its sea views is a lovely touch for catching some fresh air. On the flip side, the food menu's a bit on the simple side, so if you're hoping for a gourmet meal, you might be disappointed, though the dishes they do serve up are fresh and flavoursome. And let's not forget, parking's just on the street, which can be a faff, and there are a couple of suggestions floating around for things like more veggie options or tweaking the sound system. All in all, it's a solid choice for a great night out, especially if you're after good value and a proper sports bar experience in Great Yarmouth – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is brilliant for watching live sports; they've got massive screens showing everything from Premier League to international matches, making it a proper haven for footie fans.
  • Loads of games on offer like snooker, pool, and darts – it's ace for a bit of friendly competition with mates, and the tables are well-maintained at reasonable prices.
  • Staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful; they really make you feel at home, whether you're popping in for a drink or asking about matches.
  • Prices are spot on – cheaper than many other pubs around, so you can enjoy a pint or some bar food without breaking the bank.
  • The balcony offers stunning views over Great Yarmouth's Golden Mile and the sea, perfect for a relaxing break between games or during a match.
Cons
  • The food menu isn't extensive, so if you're after something fancy or a wide variety, you might find it a bit limited, though what's on offer is freshly cooked and tasty.
  • Parking is just street-side, which can be a hassle if you're driving, especially during busy times – might mean a short walk from wherever you park.
  • There are a few areas for improvement, like more options for plant-based eats or better sound setups in some spots, based on what some visitors have mentioned.

This is a top place to watch sports, it has a great bar and the price's are cheaper than a lot of other pubs. Me and my son go regularly to play snooker and watch football there, although there is not an extensive menu. The food we get is always freshly cooked and very tasty.

Merlins sports bar, where do I start what a great place this is. The bar staff were awesome, very welcoming friendly very helpful. I can't comment on the food as we never ate there but what I saw come out looked very nice well presented maybe next time in Yarmouth I will get to try it. Well set out place very clean and tidy plenty of pool tables to play on and a billards table too, they even accommodate holiday makers to play as non members for a very small fee. it was for our visit between 7 and 8 pound an hr to play. Big screens and tvs all over to watch spots lovely out side bit for smokers with a great view of the beach, pier, beach etc memorablea of sports items dotted around the walls . Food was reasonably priced drinks were great prices too they make a great cuppa tea I tried 3 different bar members they asked me how I liked my tea and then made it perfect 👌 I would definitely recommend adding this place to vist if your in Yarmouth I will definitely vist there again when there had a lovley few hrs there 😀 Thanks merlins staff for the great time you guys are great 👍🏼 👌

If you had to press me, there are ways in which improvements could be made (like speakers above pool tables rather than TV speakers and more plantbased food). However, this offers everything you could want for pool and snooker. Oh, maybe more than one American table but overall excellent. So many tables, not too busy, sunday new years eve. Deserves more than 4 stars so.... thanks guys.
