About This Pub

So, if you're thinking about heading to the Longshoot in Nuneaton, it's one of those dependable pubs that really delivers on the basics. I have to say, the food stands out as a highlight – their carvery is brilliant, with consistently hot and flavourful dishes, and things like the steak and ale pie come highly recommended. It's got that family-friendly feel, with plenty of seating and facilities like free parking and WiFi, making it a great choice for a casual get-together or even watching live events like the Women's Euros. The staff are genuinely lovely, always up for a chat and quick to help, which adds a nice touch. On the other hand, it can feel a bit lacking in buzz on off-peak times, and the self-serve nature of the carvery means you're on your own for some parts, which isn't ideal if you fancy more attentive service. Still, overall, it's a solid spot for good value and a relaxed evening – I'd pop in without hesitation for a bite and a pint, as long as you're not after something overly fancy.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, especially the carvery with its hot, delicious options and plenty of sides to choose from – it's a real treat for a hearty meal.
  • Staff are always friendly and efficient, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's a proper family-friendly spot with great facilities like free parking, WiFi, and even options for watching live sports, which adds to the fun.
  • The location is handy, just a short drive from Nuneaton's town centre, making it an easy stop after a day out.
Cons
  • The atmosphere can be a bit flat on quieter days, like midweek, though it probably livens up at the weekends.
  • It's more of a self-serve setup for the carvery, so you might not get much in the way of table service, which could feel a tad impersonal.
  • The building doesn't look all that exciting from the outside, but once you're in, it's perfectly fine.

We visited yesterday en route home from my son’s birthday outing. Plenty of seating but not a whole lot of atmosphere, I’m sure during the weekend though atmos will be in abundance. Staff were very good; friendly and efficient. We wanted something quick to miss the rush hour traffic and carvery was right there and waiting. I only drop a star as hubby and I both agreed the Yorkshire pudding wasn’t too great and I’m not really much of a veg eater other than peas and there were no peas. My hubby and two sons very much enjoyed all the veggies that were present. The meats were delicious, I particularly liked the onion gravy and horseradish sauce had a warming kick to it. I would recommend.

After a previous negative experience, we were graciously invited back by the team to properly experience their breakfast service. It is advisable to make reservations in advance as walk-ins may not always be accommodated. Nonetheless, the hot food is freshly prepared to order, and guests are welcome to help themselves with toast and beverages after placing their orders at the table. We express our gratitude to Carl and his team for the breakfast experience.

The Love Carvery at Longshoot never fails to impress with its consistently hot, delicious food and wide array of choices. The staff is friendly, although the nature of the carvery means it's more of a self-serve experience with minimal table service. The premises offer free parking, including spaces for disabled visitors. It's worth noting that the restaurant can get quite busy, particularly on Thursdays for quiz nights and Sundays for the beloved Sunday roast dinners.

It isn’t the most exciting looking building but it looks pretty decent inside... and the food and staff are amazing. We had a share platter as main and a small carvery. Great portions, very tasty food. Carvery offers lot of side choices and meat was nicely cooked and juicy. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Good COVID measures are in place, one way system.
