About This Pub

Ah, Lanigans – it's one of those classic Irish bars that really captures the spirit of a good night out in Liverpool. I've got to say, what stands out most is how brilliant it is for watching sports; that huge LCD video wall makes you feel right in the thick of the game, and it's paired with live music seven nights a week, which keeps things energetic and fun. The drink selection is top-notch too, with a wide array of Irish options that draw in the crowds, and from what I've heard from mates, the Guinness is often spot on. It's also fantastic for gatherings, whether it's a birthday bash or just a casual get-together, and the staff usually go out of their way to make you feel at home. But let's be honest, it's not all pints and cheers; there've been a few grumbles about the occasional rude server, which can sour the experience, and sometimes the drinks don't quite hit the mark, like when the Guinness falls a bit flat. Plus, on quieter days, it might not have that full-on Irish pub vibe you're after. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a night out – just go in with realistic expectations, and you're likely to have a cracking time!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The massive LCD video wall is an absolute winner for catching all the big sporting events – it's like having a front-row seat to the action!
  • Live music every single night keeps the vibe buzzing; it's a great spot to unwind with some cracking tunes and a pint.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of Irish whiskeys, gins, beers, and what they claim is the best Guinness in the north west – and many folks seem to agree.
  • The staff are generally spot on, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for parties or just popping in for a casual drink.
  • It's ideally located in the heart of Liverpool, making it easy to drop by for a good time, whether it's a special occasion or a spontaneous night out.
Cons
  • There have been a few reports of less than friendly service from some staff members, which can really put a dampener on an otherwise fun evening.
  • The quality of drinks like Guinness can be hit or miss; one person mentioned it didn't quite live up to expectations, even for a Guinness aficionado.
  • It can feel a bit quiet during off-peak times, like a rainy afternoon, so the atmosphere might not always be as lively as you'd hope.
  • Recent reviews show a mixed bag, with some average experiences that don't quite match the high overall rating, so it pays to check the timing.

Irish bar maid ,With major attitude asked her for 2 quick pints as we had to be up early tomorrow with an early flight home .She told me to go home I thought she was messing proceeded to ignore me, we just left and went home after. All the rest of the staff wherei lovely. She walked around with glasses on her head like she owned the place, ( maybe she does) regardless manners costs nothing. Seems to think doing her job is beneath her.Gone from 1 star to 5 outstanding service each and every one ,friendly enraging, actually fantastic to go from 1 star to this is exceptional, well done staff and management.

Went to watch the football, champions league, two different games and the multi game. Artist was on playing great tunes. Nice beer at good prices. Really good atmosphere for a Wednesday night.

Big, busy Irish sports bar in the city centre. Live music on at the far end. Plenty of tv screens with football on. I had the Guinness. It looked very good when being poured but didn’t taste that good tbh and that is coming from someone who really knows their Guinness. Could have done with an extra person on at the bar.

Lanigan's bar in Liverpool, located on Ranelagh st, what are cracking pub this is, if you want to see one of the best pubs in Liverpool, then this is it, 200 yards south of the adelphi hotel, and what makes it even better is it beautiful barmaid. Lots of supposed Irish pubs on Ranelagh st, but this pub is the real McCoy and to cap it all,it sells John Smiths -a proper pub!
