About This Pub

Ah, Knight & Garter, or 'The Knight' as the locals call it – it's one of those places in Leicester that just feels like a hidden gem, tucked away on Hotel Street with its stunning design and welcoming atmosphere. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the food is a standout, with fresh British classics like fish and chips or a juicy burger that leave you satisfied and smiling. The drinks menu is spot on too, boasting everything from crafty cocktails and local ales to some cracking mocktails that don't skimp on flavour. It's got that perfect pub feel mixed with a bit of brasserie flair, making it ideal for catching up with mates over a Sunday roast or enjoying live tunes on the weekend. On the flip side, though, you might find yourself waiting a tad longer for your grub, and not every dish is a home run – some bits can be a bit middling, which is a shame when the rest is so good. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're after a memorable evening without breaking the bank, but I'd say it's best to go in with realistic expectations and maybe avoid peak times if you're in a rush. Give it a go; I reckon you'll have a whale of a time!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot-on, with fresh, seasonal dishes and generous portions that make every meal feel like a treat.
  • Service is warm and welcoming, with staff who really know their stuff about the menu and drinks, making you feel right at home.
  • They've got a cracking selection of drinks, from local ales and cocktails to top-notch wines, perfect for any occasion.
  • The atmosphere is brilliant, especially with live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and it's a lovely spot for a relaxed Sunday lunch.
  • Great value for what you get, offering a mix of boutique vibes and classic pub charm in the heart of Leicester.
Cons
  • Food can sometimes take a bit longer than expected, like a 45-minute wait even when it's not too busy, which might put a dampener on things.
  • A few dishes might not hit the mark every time, with some starters or mains coming across as just average rather than outstanding.

This restaurant offers a fantastic British menu and dining experience. The service was really friendly and our host, Kate, understood the menu and wine list really well. For what you get it was incredible value. We had two starters followed by the pork and fish and chips, all delicious and superbly presented

Came here for a Sunday meal as a Odeh of how and we were greeted well. The food was very fresh and good portions I had the fish and chips and my friend had a burger . Their mock tails were really lovely too and not just ice . Our waitress was also so kind and friendly

We popped into 'The Knight and Carter' yesterday (Sunday) and wow, what a blast from the past! This spot used to be my local Irish bar back in the 90s, so it’s amazing to see how Leicester has changed over the years. This place hit all the right note... great service, delicious food, and a lovely vibe. I was so happy with the meal; it looked gorgeous, tasted even better, and was super fresh. I’d gone for the roast beef dinner, but they’d run out (clearly a popular choice!), so they offered me steak instead for the same price. And let me tell you... it was melt in-my your mouth good! Thick, tender, perfectly pink slices of beef with incredible flavor. Honestly, I couldn’t have been happier. Before I forget a 'Big shoutout' to the staff... you were all fantastic! Sorry I didn’t catch any names, but you were so friendly and attentive. If you’re in Lesta, definitely check out 'The Knight and Carter' It’s a proper wee gem!

A group of friends meet here in the pub, food is good but some starters and main just bang average. Food took about 45 mins, considering it was 10 of us at lunch time and was the only table. Great atmosphere
