About This Pub
Ah, Joe's Bar – it's one of those places in Birmingham that you might stumble upon and think, 'This could be a regular haunt.' From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, the staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels welcome, which really sets a warm tone for the evening. The drink deals, especially during happy hour, are spot on for keeping things affordable, and with quiz nights and a pool table on offer, it's brilliant for catching up with mates or making new ones. That said, it's not all smooth sailing – the food's where it falls a bit flat, with stories of pizzas that are more doughy disaster than delicious treat, and portions that seem to shrink every visit. I've heard tales of fries that don't quite taste right or are just too skimpy for the quid you're shelling out. All in all, if you're after a place for a good pint and some laughs, Joe's Bar ticks a lot of boxes, but you might want to grab a bite elsewhere to avoid any disappointments. It's got that student-friendly energy, being part of the Guild of Students, so it's worth popping in for the atmosphere alone, as long as you keep your expectations in check for the grub.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
They've got some brilliant deals on drinks, especially during happy hour, which is perfect for a budget-friendly night out.
-
It's a great spot for socialising, with events like quiz nights and a pool table to keep things lively and fun.
-
The refurb looks nice, and there's a good range of drinks at reasonable prices, which adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
Cons
-
The food quality can be a real letdown, with complaints about things like thick, raw pizza dough that doesn't quite hit the mark.
-
Portion sizes are often on the small side, which might leave you feeling a bit short-changed, especially for the price.
-
Some dishes, like the lattice or waffle fries, have been described as tasteless or even inedible, which is a shame when you're hoping for a proper meal.
-
While the drinks and events are solid, the overall food experience doesn't always live up to expectations, making it less ideal if you're planning to eat there.

Great food and good deals on drinks especially on happy hour would recommend!
Someone needs to tell the Chef how to cook a bloody Pizza. The dough is way too thick and raw. I could literally taste the yeast. Either use a thinner base or cook them for longer. Staff are great / beers were good!
Portion sizes are getting smaller and smaller especially for chips.
Tried out lattice/waffle fries hoping to have better portion sizes but just as small and don't taste of anything and some parts actually inedible.
Paid about £4.50 wouldn't do it again
Nice referb, good range of drink at good price point. Food is quite bad, but good daily deals
Staff are friendly and helpful great place to hang out with uni students if youbare one or not. Students are also friendly to meet and make friends, got a pool table and there are deals during uni term. Momdays and Thursdays are quiz nights with selected drink deals. And other events posted (check with staff for none student invite).
