About This Pub
Oh, Hash Bar and Kitchen is one of those places that just draws you in with its easy-going charm, tucked away on Coniscliffe Road in Darlington. I have to say, the staff are an absolute delight – they're so friendly and attentive, it makes the whole experience feel like catching up with old pals. The food is another winner; things like the shawarma and hot dogs are cooked to perfection with fresh ingredients, and it's perfect for a casual bite or a cheeky drink. Plus, if you're out with your dog, they'll make them feel just as welcome as you are, which is always a bonus. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing – I've heard a few folks mention that the place looks like it needs a good clean and maybe a refresh to shake off the dust, with some bits feeling a tad neglected. And when it gets lively, the staff can get a bit flustered, which might leave you waiting a smidge longer than you'd like. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed outing, but keeping an eye on the upkeep would take it from good to brilliant, if you ask me.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always making you feel welcome and right at home.
-
The food is absolutely delicious, with standout dishes like the shawarma and hot dogs that really hit the spot.
-
It has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, ideal for a laid-back meal or drink with mates.
-
Being dog-friendly is a lovely touch, making it a great choice if you're popping in with your four-legged friend.
Cons
-
It could really do with a thorough clean and some refurbishment, as it's starting to look a bit tired and grubby in places.
-
When things get busy, the team behind the bar can seem a bit all over the place, which might disrupt the flow of your visit.
-
There have been some grumbles about hygiene, like items not being tidied up properly, which is a shame for an otherwise nice spot.

It's a great spot for a casual meal or drink.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff are friendly and attentive.
A standout feature is that they are dog-friendly, making it a great place to bring your furry friend. The food is also delicious, with a good selection of dishes to choose from.
Always loved this place. However, it needs a full refurbished. It really is dirty now. I don’t think it gets cleaned tbh. Same kids crayon left on the floor was still there 5 weeks later. Also, the kids behind the bar are all over the place when busy. The owners need to spend on this place or people will go elsewhere.
Lovely lunch here yesterday. Quiet relaxed ambience, friendly staff and delicious food. We had the hot dog and a fish finger sandwich, both cooked to order and served piping hot, as a bonus they even had apple juice for my daughter, which we find is rare. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, and overall this was a lovely, relaxing lunch experience, we will definitely be back.👏👏
Hash is always mint. The menu is limited, but you know the chefs are going to cook everything really well, with the highest quality ingredients.
I recommend the shawarma, or the hot dogs.
Drinks are great too, with the coffee being very well made.
