About This Pub

You know, chatting about the Montague Arms feels like sharing notes with mates over a pint – it's got that reliable Harvester feel, where you can dive into full-flavoured dishes like BBQ plates or steaks, all washed down with their famous unlimited salad bar. I love how it's set in a lovely area surrounded by lakes and green spaces, making it a brilliant pit stop after exploring places like Thorpe Park or Windsor. The staff really pull through with their friendly service, going the extra mile to make families feel special, like sorting out a surprise birthday moment without being asked. On the downside, it's not perfect; there've been grumbles about slow service even on quieter days, and some food turning up not quite right, like cold meals or smaller portions that don't quite match the rising prices. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together, but I'd say it's best to pop in with realistic expectations and maybe avoid peak times if you're after a seamless experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant when they're on top form, like that server Jackie who surprised a family with a birthday singalong – it's those little touches that make you feel right at home.
  • They've got a cracking selection of food, from mouthwatering rotisserie chicken and grilled dishes to an unlimited salad bar that's fresh and packed with options, perfect for families.
  • It's a proper family-friendly spot with a dedicated kids' menu and a welcoming vibe, making it ideal for a relaxed meal with the little ones.
  • The location's spot on, near lakes, parks, and attractions like Windsor Castle, and it's easy to get to from the M4 or Heathrow, great for a quick stop-off.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit hit and miss; some visits drag on with slow waits, even when it's quiet, which is a shame when you're hoping for a smooth meal.
  • Food doesn't always hit the mark – like that cold, overcooked steak that left one visitor disappointed and vowing not to return.
  • Portions seem to have shrunk while prices have crept up, which feels a tad unfair when you're tucking into what's meant to be hearty pub grub.
  • The atmosphere can come across as a bit serious at times, with staff not always flashing those warm smiles, making it less lively than you'd hope.

Really good. Our server Jackie. Was amazing very helpful attended to our every need. Also was my daughter's birthday, Jackie found a candle and put in my daughter's dessert and came over and sang happy birthday, even though I hadn't even requested they did that or sing happy birthday or anything. Such a lovely touch. Excellent and thank you so much. Also food was spot on. Thanks chef.

friendly – even on a Friday night! It wasn’t busy at all! Jess, our server, was lovely and made sure our food was okay, and made sure our son got his food and drink too. Really appreciated the warm, kid-friendly service. We’ll definitely be back!

Asked for medium to well steak. Arrived cold, hard and well done. Service was slow and items weren’t put on the order. Afternoon middle of the week. Empty. Slow service. Didn’t bother address or eat it, I just wont be going back.

Some decent food, the portions have clearly become a lot smaller compared to last year. And prices have gone up. But regardless really speedy service for the food to come out. Staff were fairly attentive but not many smiles going around. Very serious atmosphere. Had a decent experience and will be coming again soon.
