About This Pub
Ah, the Golden Crane in Upminster – it's one of those classic spots that feels like a proper old-school pub, with its 1950s charm and a welcoming atmosphere that's just spot on for a casual catch-up. From what I've gathered from folks who've been, the staff are brilliant, always friendly and making sure you're looked after, and the outdoor garden is a real treat on a nice day, ideal for soaking up some fresh air with a cold pint. Prices are fair too, so you won't feel like you're breaking the bank for a good time. But, let's be straight, it's not without its flaws – food-wise, options are pretty slim, especially if you're after something vegetarian or vegan, and they don't do meals in-house anymore, which is a shame. Then there's the odd off moment with entertainment; that Christmas Eve DJ sounded like a right disaster, leaving things a bit flat when you'd hope for some festive cheer. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed drink and some good company, but you might want to plan around the food bit if that's your thing – still, it's got that warm, community feel that makes it worth a visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros

-
Lovely outdoor garden area that's perfect for enjoying a drink on a sunny day or hosting a casual gathering.
-
Traditional 1950s building with plenty of car parking, making it easy to pop in without the hassle.
-
Cold beer and great value prices that keep things affordable for a night out with mates.
-
A great atmosphere for celebrations, like cheering on a sports team or just having a relaxed evening.
Cons
-
Limited food options, especially if you're vegetarian or vegan, with not much on offer to suit different tastes.
-
No food served on-site anymore, so you might have to nip to a nearby chippy or curry house if you're peckish.
-
Entertainment can be a bit hit or miss, like that disappointing DJ experience on Christmas Eve that killed the mood.
-
It can get quiet early sometimes, which might not be ideal if you're after a lively night that goes on.

We were there to celebrate our Grandson’s Football team’s League Cup victory.
The Golden Crane Pub is a Tradition 1950s built building with plenty of car parking spaces.
Inside it is really nice and the staff are very friendly as you would hope.
It has a lovely outdoor space in the Garden where the young ones played the whole time on scooters and in the play area where there is climbing apparatus and a slide. This area is fenced in so particularly good for the young ones.
The garden has a lot of seating so you’re guaranteed a seat.
There is an extensive food menu and although I never personally had food I’m told it is very good.
Very nice pub. Friendly staff and punters, clean with lots of Halloween decorations
Terrible night at the Golden Crane for Christmas Eve. Used to be so much better, was dead by 10pm as this DJ couldn’t read the room to understand that people naturally wanted Christmas music. Worst DJ I’ve ever encountered, doesn’t understand how to mix and or take requests let alone know what people want to listen to… atrocious. Would not come back here again for an event like that.
Cold beer, Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. All at a great price!
Unfortunately food no longer served here, but the owner is cool and you can get fish n chips from a chippy down the road (or a curry froma a tandori rest.)
Friendly pub with a lovely beer garden. They serve food but not much for a vegetarian or vegan. A little more effort with the menu and atmosphere it would get a 5
