About This Pub

Ah, the Gildersome Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away on the edge of Morley in Leeds. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute legends; they're always cheerful and ready to lend a hand, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or settling in for the match. The food really hits the mark too – think delicious carvery options with moist turkey and tasty veg, all served up fresh and at prices that won't leave you stunned. It's brilliant for families, with kids' activities and a dog-friendly policy that makes it easy to bring the whole crew along, and the beer garden is a lovely spot for soaking up the sun with a cold one. If you're into sports, it's a top choice for watching events like the Women's Euros on the big screens, creating that electric atmosphere we all love. On the downside, though the recent reviews are glowing, the overall rating dips to 3.9, which might mean it has its off moments, perhaps when it's packed to the rafters or if things aren't quite as smooth as they'd like. Still, it's a solid pick for a laid-back evening, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep an eye on the timings to avoid any potential hitches.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and always go the extra mile to make you feel right at home, as if you're chatting with old mates.
  • The food is spot on, especially the carvery with its tender meats and fresh veg – perfect for a hearty meal without breaking the bank.
  • It's a family-friendly spot with activities for the little ones and even welcomes dogs, making it ideal for a relaxed day out.
  • Great for catching live sports on the big screens, with a lively atmosphere that gets everyone buzzing during events like the Women's Euros.
  • Affordable prices and a cosy beer garden add to the charm, offering good value and a welcoming vibe for a casual get-together.
Cons
  • While recent feedback has been brilliant, the overall rating of 3.9 suggests there might be occasional inconsistencies, like busier times affecting service.
  • As a chain pub, it could feel a tad generic compared to more unique local haunts, missing out on that bespoke touch some folks crave.

I’ve just call in for the first time and was greeted by such friendly and helpful staff. Steven was such a superstar and he’s now my two dachshunds favourite person ever! Well done guys, you’re doing a great job!

So accommodating from start to finish, the food was lovely and was all timed well. The staff couldn’t do enough and made our Mother’s Day really enjoyable. On a busy day nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much, we will absolutely be returning.

We visited The Gildersome Arms on Friday evening, and it was a delightful experience. The food was absolutely lovely & fresh. The service was top tier, with all the staff being incredibly friendly and helpful. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find that there was a children’s disco, which was a huge hit! It kept the kids entertained and dancing throughout the evening, adding a fun and lively atmosphere to the night. Overall, a fantastic evening with great food, excellent service, and a wonderful surprise for the little ones! Highly recommend!

The carvery I thought was really good. Turkey was tender and moist, veg was cooked well and gravy was delicious. Good selection of beer, I enjoyed a Coors light. Decent size and is child friendly
