Excellent service, food and experience. I have been a couple of times for brunch and the experience has always been good. However on this occasion I went with family on a Saturday evening, probably one of the best restaurants in Chelmsford, doing different to the usual. More what you'd expect in a trendy area of London for example! Absolutely recommend!
I love this place. Seriously excellent, flavoursome food from a brilliantly varied menu. I always try and order something different and it's always delicious. The service is always friendly and prompt without being overbearing. The decor and general vibe is smart but chilled. I would eat here every day if I could!
For the second time in a week, I have had to say 'wow'. Just for the fact that this place must be the veritable goldmine. Absolutely packed to the rafters, inside and out.
When the server tried to put me at a tiny table near the bar, I was rescued by Laura, clearly a service industry star, who kindly sorted me out. (I had been quite specific in my booking email NOT to be squished on a tiny table).
My booking was for 2pm, when the noise level was such that everyone seemed to be shouting at one another. Just as that started to ease, the place started to fill up again. Wow for the second time!!
As Laura said, while talking me through the menu, there are a lot of twists to the food on offer, (breakfast and brunch from opening until mid afternoon).
I opted for the 'Full Fête' (£16), effectively a 'full English ', but including Merguez sausages, a King brown mushroom and flat bread. All absolutely delicious, although the Harissa duck fat potatoes were more than a little overdone.
I washed it down with a pot of spiced ginger tea, so nice that I had to find out what brand it was. Clipper, I was told. I'll be buying a pack immediately!
What especially impressed was the staff. Clearly all really motivated and well-trained, they were extraordinarily efficient and very friendly. Food and drink was on the table within 10 minutes. Amazing.
Just as incredible was the speed they turned round the tables.
Considering the venture started out as serving food from a van, hats off to all concerned.
I seldom write down the comments, but I love this cafe! I went there today in a very crowded period, but the staffs are still nice. English is my second language, I am thankful for their patience. I met four staffs today, all of them are warm and kind, and I like their smiles. I would like to visit here again~ Before I went there, I was a bit worried about the price. After I went inside, everything was worthy💕thank you for making my day, it’s my birthday trip.
Booking the upstairs for a Baby shower afternoon was the best idea! Reasonable to hire, great communication, great deal re drinks!. The loveliest of staff especially Alfie!! We couldn’t have asked for a better venue as we could bring our own food and having a paying bar on site and barman Alfie, we were sorted!!! Nothing was too much trouble would definitely have a function here again. The only down side was the toilets !!! as people from downstairs had to come up to use the toilets!
