About This Pub

Ah, Finlay's – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its charm, isn't it? From what I've gathered, it's got this great, homely feel where the staff, especially that lovely lady running the show, go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and the prices are just spot on for grabbing a quick drink without breaking the bank. The regulars add to the fun, creating that proper community spirit you don't always find these days. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; on weekends, the music can crank up to levels that shake the walls and upset the neighbours, turning what should be a laid-back evening into something a bit more chaotic. And there've been a couple of stories about some unsavoury goings-on that might make you think twice before heading in alone. Overall, if you're after a welcoming spot for a mid-day catch-up or a chat with the locals, it's worth a visit, but maybe steer clear if you're hoping for a quiet night – just my two pence on it!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is spot on – it's a cosy spot that quickly feels like your go-to local, especially with that welcoming vibe from the staff and regulars.
  • Prices are dead reasonable, making it easy on the wallet for a pint or a bite when you're out and about in Hemel.
  • The team running the place, including the lovely lady behind the bar, are super friendly and make everyone feel right at home.
Cons
  • It can get a bit too lively on weekends with the music blasting, which might disturb those living nearby and turn into more of a nightclub scene than a relaxed pub.
  • There have been some unfortunate incidents reported, like dodgy behaviour in the toilets, which could put a damper on things for first-timers.

Excellent bar with 'atmosphere', run by a lovely lady. Rapidly becoming my mid-day 'watering hole' whenever I'm in Hemel. Prices very reasonable. The locals/regulars are friendly, I feel welcome

The pub is attached to a collection of flats. Obnoxiously blasts music on the weekends from 6pm-1am. Our entire flat complex shakes until 1am. It is not an appropriate spot for what is essentially a night club on Fridays and Saturdays.

Not to bad but unfortunately caught 2 fellas in the toilet and they weren't using urinals if you know what I mean a man with his dog and I guy called Andy.ever since I challenged them had nothing but grief but I know the landlady's son so weren't going to leave it.shame though I'm new to the area so thought it would be a good pub for me
