About This Pub
Oh, Farriers Arms is one of those pubs that just warms your cockles the moment you walk in – it's got this fabulous sixties feel that's so nostalgic and inviting, like chatting with old mates over a pint. The staff are an absolute treat, always cheerful and on point with their service, and the real ales are spot on, especially if you're into that CAMRA history; it's no wonder it's become a bit of a legend. Plus, the food's a real winner – their homemade pizza with fresh basil is just scrumptious and won't set you back too much. On the flip side, it doesn't open until 4 PM, which might leave you twiddling your thumbs if you're out and about earlier, and popping outside for the toilets can be a nuisance on a blustery day. All in all, it's a gem for a relaxed evening, but worth keeping those little niggles in mind if you're planning a visit.
Pros and Cons

-
They've got an excellent selection of real ales, including well-kept options that ale enthusiasts would love, especially given its historical tie to CAMRA.
-
The food is superb – think delicious homemade pizza with fresh basil and other fair-priced treats that hit the spot without costing a fortune.
-
It's a welcoming spot with a great vibe, perfect for locals and visitors alike, making it easy to see why it'd become your go-to local.
Cons
-
The pub only opens from 4 PM each day, which can feel a bit limiting if you're hoping for an earlier pint or a relaxed lunch.
-
Having to head outside for the toilets isn't the most convenient, especially on a rainy evening in St Albans.
-
With no website or online presence, it's a tad tricky to get the latest info on what's on offer before you pop in.

Lovley pub if i lived in st Albans it would most definitely be my local. Its a very sixties feel I love it and fair priced
An amazing pub in the heart of historic St Albans. The staff is super friendly and brilliant. The atmosphere is great and the food is superb (they had delicious home-made pizza with fresh basil). I’d highly recommend this pub to anyone around!
This wonderful pub is the home of CAMRA. The first branch meeting of the Campaign For Real Ale was held here on the 20th of November, 1972. As you'd expect, the Ale was excellent and in good condition. Service was fast and friendly. It was also great to see the local CAMRA members enjoying a good pint in a fine venue.
On my third stay-over visit to St Albans. Madge found another locals bar just outside the city centre. Great vibe. Had Young's bitter...long dead from Wandsworth but alive as a Zombie beer. Still pretty good. Who TF brews it now? Great L shaped bar. Would move here if we had the odd million to blow on a modest house!...and OMG..this is where CAMRA started about 2 years before I first joined!
Probably the most traditional ‘boozer’ in St Albans, as can be seen from the photographs. I haven’t had to go outside to the toilets in a pub in many a year!
The clientele is primarily locals, although the atmosphere is welcoming. Three/four well-kept ales on draught; had a good pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord. Branded as McMullen, although I didn’t see any of their ales.
Definitely worth supporting ‘proper’ pubs such as this one.
