About This Pub
Ah, the Derby Lodge – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you get past the initial impressions. I have to say, the food here is a real highlight; they've got some belting dishes like the grilled chicken Caesar flatbread or that melt-in-the-middle fish pie fishcake, and at such good prices too, especially with the lunch specials. Pair that with the super attentive staff who make you feel like a regular from the get-go, and it's easy to see why folks keep coming back. The beer garden is another winner, especially on a sunny day in Huyton, and if you're into your footy, it's the perfect place to catch all the live action without missing a beat. On the flip side, though, the place does have that dated feel – the carpets are a bit minging and the overall look could do with a spruce-up to match the quality of the grub. Still, if you're after a straightforward, affordable spot for a meal and a chat with mates, it's worth a visit; just keep expectations realistic and focus on the positives!
Pros and Cons

The food is absolutely spot on – plenty of tasty options with generous portions and great value, especially those lunch deals starting from just £5.
-
The staff are so friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and top-notch service that makes you feel right at home.
-
They've got a cracking beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun or enjoying a relaxed evening.
-
It's a brilliant spot for watching live sports, with TNT Sports showing all the big games like the Premier League – ideal for getting behind your team.
Cons
-
The decor feels a bit tired and outdated, which can make the place look a little worn around the edges.
-
Not much variety in the drinks, especially for cider lovers – only Strongbow on tap, which might disappoint if you're after more choices.
-
The carpets are in a right state, which could put you off if you're hoping for a spotlessly clean environment.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Food, Friendly Vibes & One of the Best Beer Gardens Around!
Had a fantastic meal recently at The Derby Lodge in Huyton – this place really ticks all the boxes. The food is top quality, with generous portions and great value for money. I had the beer battered haddock and chips, and it was absolutely spot on – full of flavour, proper comfort food done right. The rest of the menu looked just as tempting, with plenty of choice for all tastes.
What really sets The Derby Lodge apart, though, is the setting. It’s incredibly spacious inside, so even when it’s busy you never feel cramped – perfect for group meals or family get-togethers. And then there’s the beer garden – absolutely massive, well-kept, and ideal for enjoying a drink or a meal outdoors. Easily one of the best beer gardens in the area, especially on a sunny day!
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff were very friendly, helpful, and on the ball throughout. Whether you’re after a casual bite, a few drinks with mates, or a family meal out, this place delivers every time.
Highly recommend checking it out – a proper hidden gem in Huyton that deserves all the praise it gets!
I've heard lots of good comments about the Derby Lodge over the last year. So I decided to go and check it out in person. I attended when it was lunch time hours. The place was welcoming, the staff were friendly and the food was nice and the price was great. Me and my son had a 3 course meal and a drink for under £29. I noticed the pub got busy whilst I was there. I will definitely visit again in the future. The unlimited breakfast for £10.99 looks tempting so I might consider checking out the breakfast deal on my next visit.
Stayed at the Premier Inn and took their meal deal option. The food was fresh, cooked to order, and tasted good. All the staff are nice and welcoming.
Food is good price but not the best quality. Nice beer garden. Not a huge amount of drink choice especially cider, only Strongbow on tap (Maybe that's a northern thing as the other 2 pubs I went to on this street also only had Strongbow.
