About This Pub
Ah, Cuckoo in Prestwich – it's one of those spots that really pulls you in with its inviting atmosphere and top-notch pizza, making it a go-to for a laid-back evening with mates. I've heard from folks that the pizzas are crafted with real care, offering that perfect crispy base and fresh flavours that leave you wanting more. The place has this great, spacious layout too, with an upstairs area that's spot on for working away or enjoying events, and when the staff are at their best, they're genuinely warm and attentive, adding to the whole experience. On the flip side, it's not all smooth sailing; some visits have been marred by long waits for drinks or food, and there've been complaints about certain dishes not hitting the mark, like breakfasts that end up too salty or dried out. Plus, a few interactions with staff haven't been as friendly as you'd expect, which can throw off the vibe a bit, especially during busier nights like comedy events. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're after good grub and a cozy setting, but it'd be even better with more consistent service to match that high rating it boasts.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The pizza here is absolutely spot on – thin, crispy crusts and fresh toppings that make it a real winner for a casual meal with friends.
-
It's got a lovely, cozy atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding, whether you're popping in for a drink or catching up over some food.
-
The staff can be wonderfully friendly and welcoming, especially when they're on form, making you feel right at home.
-
There's plenty of space, including an upstairs area that's great for getting some work done during the day or hosting events in the evening.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit inconsistent, with some waits for drinks and food stretching on longer than you'd like, which might put a dampener on things.
-
Occasionally, the food quality dips, like with breakfast items that might turn out subpar or overly salty, leaving you a tad disappointed.
-
There have been times when staff interactions haven't been as professional or friendly as hoped, which can make for an awkward visit.
-
Event nights, such as comedy shows, might not always live up to expectations due to these service hiccups, even if the entertainment itself is decent.

Pizza was ok, service was terrible! Took an age for drinks to arrive and the food even longer. After waiting a very long time for food I went up to enquire where it was and was met by a rude and confrontational woman who clearly didn’t know how to deal with customers in a professional and friendly manner. Avoid
We were made to wait for 40 minutes for two breakfasts, only to be served the most subpar and disappointing food. The sausages were obviously cheap and nasty (AND SO SALTY!!), the pancetta was dried out presumably after sitting on the heat lamps for too long and the eggs had most of the white cut off?? What happened to the rest of it?? No one bothered to check if we were ok when we were waiting, or when we were consuming our food. Not even when we were paying. If your kitchen is struggling to cope, please let your customers know upfront so they don’t feel trapped after waiting for over 30 mins. Would not recommend.
Absolutely fantastic experience at Cuckoo! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the cozy and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for unwinding with friends or enjoying a casual night out.
But what truly sets this place apart is the pizza. Each pie is crafted with care—thin, crispy crust, fresh ingredients, and the perfect balance of flavors. Whether you’re in the mood for something classic or more adventurous, their menu has something for everyone.
Drinks and pizza together make for an unbeatable combination here. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!
Usually the first person to recommend cuckoo for their pizza but was disappointed with the comedy night through no fault of the comedians. The comedians were pretty good!
Comedy night started at 7.30pm. As it’s held at cuckoo we had planned to eat here for the pizza they serve with it saying they’re open until 10.30pm online. Comedy night at a pizza place, it was a planned date. However after the first segment finished at 8.30pm we went down to ask about ordering a pizza for the event upstairs and we were informed the kitchen is closed. We weren’t the first people to ask about food and left disappointed that for a 3 hour event they hadn’t thought to cater for anyone at the comedy night. My guess is they missed out on a lot of business and had quite a few people left hungry and disappointed. We were told that next time we should come earlier if we want food as they only cater for the event space if it’s a party.
As we hadn’t eaten since lunchtime around 1pm we were starving and had to leave the event to go home and feed ourselves and miss the next two hours of the event.
Also definitely worth trying to set up the event before people arrive rather than having everyone move their seats around after they have all settled in and sat down. As well as the sound system being fixed after the first couple of performers mentioned an issue with the mic.
Would have been the perfect opportunity for cuckoo to provide great pizza to people who haven’t been before and seems like they just didn’t think about doing so and really missed an opportunity. I wouldn’t come to another comedy night here again unfortunately.
I am a bit late to the party I fear. This place was amazing. Had two pizzas and the humus as a starter.
The most friendly staff you could ever ask for. Service was quick but with a warm smile.
It’s actually a really large venue with an upstairs area perfect for getting some work done during the day and downstairs for late night drinks with friends. There is a real friendly and welcoming vibe to the place with an outdoor area too undercover and with heaters.
Really recommend this place. They do brunch as well as pizza and we had a lovely time. Three children and adults.
