About This Pub
Oh, the Crown at Sandon is such a delightful little spot, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the buzz around, the staff are absolute gems – they're chatty, helpful, and really make you feel like part of the community. The food stands out as a winner; folks rave about the home-cooked dishes, afternoon teas, and even buffets for special occasions, all at prices that feel spot on. It's got that family vibe down pat, being child and dog friendly with easy access, which is brilliant if you're popping in with the little ones or your furry mate. The setting by the village green adds a nice touch of countryside charm, making it ideal for a lazy afternoon. But, to keep it real, there have been a couple of mentions where the grub wasn't up to scratch, like a Sunday roast that fell short of the photos, and sorting out orders could be a tad confusing at times. Still, with most people giving it high marks, I'd say it's well worth checking out for a proper pub experience – just keep those points in mind for a smoother visit!
Pros and Cons

-
The food is a real treat – think hearty home-cooked meals, delicious afternoon teas, and great value that won't break the bank.
-
It's a welcoming spot for families, with kids and dogs allowed, plus disabled access, so everyone can join in.
-
The village setting is just lovely, nestled opposite the church and by the green, perfect for a relaxed outing.
Cons
-
There can be the odd disappointment with food quality, like when a Sunday roast didn't quite match up to expectations.
-
Sometimes ordering might feel a bit confusing, with availability issues that could put a dampener on things.
-
It's closed on Mondays, which might not suit if you're planning a mid-week get-together.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here today with a couple of friends and omg it was really lovely! Never been here before but will def be going back to try the roast dinner! Lovely place, lovely setting and lovely staff, couldn’t do enough for us! Thank you I will be back xx
Lots of staff, lots of tables but struggled to see if we could come in to eat…. Told we couldn’t order a Sunday roast but could order from the bar menu, ordered, food came and it was a little on the poor side, not what I’ve seen in the photos from Google…. Asked at time of ordering if the cheese baguette came with pickle or anything else? (Not just cheese) was told yes…. Well it was just cheese with a little side salad - then it came to paying our bill… was told to go to the bar to pay… wasn’t shown a receipt and just given the card machine to pay, paid, got given the receipt ( thank god) and left restaurant got down the road then looked at receipt, realised we had been charged for an extra meal and the full price for fries when it should have been an add on price - turned around, went back to pub and had to ask for a refund- staff were saying Millie should have taken that off, she was told to do that… turns out Mille was the one we paid…. Feel a little taken advantage of… Millie also didn’t seem to care just walked off and said ” oh sorry “ with no explanation to why we were charged for a whole extra meal… won’t be returning I’m afraid.
Held my husband's 50th party here this weekend. Absolutely fantastic event. Great food and service. Incredible value for money the buffet was not only good quality but such good value for money. So much food, with so many options offered.
Can't recommend the team here highly enough. They worked so hard and were so helpful.
Have been meaning to visit for a while since seeing updates from the owner on local social media. Thought we would chance a Friday afternoon lunch and hoped there was fresh fish and chips available - I had one of the last portions so that was perfect timing. Prices are great, it's a traditional family run pub, very welcoming staff. They were very busy so made sure we were aware there was a 30 min wait for food which wasn't an issue when it's freshly cooked to order anyway. Food was delicious and will definitely return to try other options on the menus. The set menu 2 courses for £12.50 seems exceptional value! If you want a guaranteed table it is probably best to book ahead.

We were greeted with a smile and a friendly member of staff, menus are the perfect size and not spending ages to choose. Food was insane, portions were so good to the price, great atmosphere.
We had the ribs which were huge and tasted amazing, halloumi and pineapple burger was so tasty too! We couldn't fit dessert in, so will definitely be back to try more! Amazing work guys.
