About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about the Crescent Moon Wine Bar – it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening in Colchester. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this wonderful atmosphere that's perfect for kicking back; that upstairs lounge is a proper gem, all welcoming and wow-worthy, making it ideal for a quiet catch-up over a drink. The staff sound like absolute stars, always cheerful and attentive, which really elevates the whole experience and leaves you feeling glad you stopped by. Plus, they've nailed the wine selection, with options that are a cut above, and sitting out front on a sunny day is just blissful – it's a great addition to the local scene. On the other hand, it's not without its drawbacks; the food menu is a tad disappointing, sticking mostly to cheese and charcuterie without any hot options, so if you're after a proper meal, you might end up heading elsewhere. And honestly, that refurbishment hasn't won over everyone – some folks think it's a bit underwhelming for what the area needed. All in all, it's a solid choice for wine lovers looking for a relaxed vibe, but keep in mind it might not cover all bases if you're hoping for more substantial eats. Worth a visit if you're in the mood for something simple and enjoyable!

Cons
-
The food options are quite limited, mostly just cheese and charcuterie with no hot meals, which might leave you wanting more if you're peckish.

No daytime catering for things like breakfast or lunch, which feels like a missed opportunity in an area that's been crying out for it.
-
The refurbishment hasn't impressed everyone, with some feeling it's a bit of a letdown compared to what it could have been.
-
The website is just a basic default page, so it's not the easiest to get more info before you visit.

Had a lovely glass of orange wine sat out the front in the sunshine. A great addition to Crouch Street! I’d love to see more food choices (there’s cheese and charcuterie etc but this would work so well as a small plates restaurant too) and some more local Essex wines to support some of the excellent local producers we have but can’t wait to go back. Hope this place does well!
Probably the worst refurbishment in the history of Colchester bars.
No hot food, no day time catering for a decent breakfast or lunch which this area has absolutely been waiting for, for over a decade now.
So disappointing that given a grwat opportunity, someone or sever have properly messed up beyond belief 🙄
Lovely new bar.
Upstairs lounge is a wow.
Louie & his staff make it a great experience. Louie seems to have a cheerful manner about him
