About This Pub

Ah, Cask & Tap – what a little gem tucked away in the heart of Blackpool! From what I've gathered, it's got this warm, unpretentious feel that makes you want to settle in for a good chat over a pint. The real stars here are the beers; they've got an impressive lineup of cask ales, ciders, and craft options that keep things exciting and varied, and it's clear from the glowing feedback that folks are chuffed with the quality and selection. The staff really add to the charm, being so approachable and keen to share recommendations, which helps create that cosy, community vibe without any unnecessary distractions. On the flip side, it might not suit everyone if you're looking for a lively night out that goes on late, as they tend to call it a day around 9pm on weekdays, and it can fill up quickly on busier evenings. All in all, if you're a fan of proper pubs where the focus is on great drinks and good company, I'd say give it a go – it's got that authentic touch that makes Blackpool's ale scene shine, but just keep an eye on the time so you don't miss out!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with a fantastic range of real cask ales, ciders, and craft taps that cater to all tastes – it's a real treat for ale enthusiasts.
  • The atmosphere is just lovely; it's all about relaxed chats and good company without any noisy distractions like TVs or jukeboxes, making it perfect for a proper catch-up.
  • The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, always ready with a smile and some helpful tips on what's on offer – you'll feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's super accessible, with full wheelchair access and being dog-friendly, plus free WiFi, so it's easy to pop in with friends or family, furry ones included.
  • They've earned a spot in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide, and with such high praise from visitors, it's clear this place knows how to keep things top-notch.
Cons
  • The opening hours wrap up a bit early, especially on weekdays, so if you're after a late-night pint, you might find yourself heading elsewhere before last orders.
  • It can get quite busy at times, like on a Tuesday evening as one visitor mentioned, which might make it tricky to find a seat if you're popping in spontaneously.
  • While it's all about the ale and conversation, some folks might miss having a bit more variety in entertainment or food options, as it's more focused on drinks than a full meal.

Managed to have a quick couple before last orders. Lovely range of excellently kept cask ales. Bar snacks available, including Black Country pork scratchings! Really friendly staff and locals. Very relaxed atmosphere a good balance of classic style with a slight modern feel. Could of sat there alot longer for sure but they unfortunately closed at 9pm on the day of our visit. First time there and hopefully won't be the last, would reccomend for any real ale and beer lover.
