Bess of Hardwick in Derby

Ah, Bess of Hardwick – or as some know it, the Wardwick Tavern – it's one of those places in Derby that really comes alive on a night out. I've got to say, the buzz in there is infectious; whether it's the fantastic outdoor setup with the big screen blasting tunes or the cosy back area perfect for chatting over a few pints, it just feels like a proper spot to unwind with friends. The drinks are fairly priced too, which is always a win when you're out for the evening. On the flip side, though, I've heard a fair few tales about the door staff being a bit heavy-handed – stories of being turned away for what seems like no good reason can really take the edge off an otherwise great night. It's got that no-nonsense, rough-around-the-edges charm, but if you're looking for something a bit more refined, it might not hit the mark. All in all, it's worth a visit if you're up for a lively pint, just go in with your eyes open and maybe plan ahead to avoid any hiccups.
