About This Pub

Ah, Berry and Barrel – it's one of those hidden gems in London that you stumble upon and think, 'Why haven't I been here sooner?' Tucked away on Well Hall Parade, this family-run micropub has this lovely indoor space and a beer garden that's just perfect for a sunny afternoon or a chilled evening. From what I've gathered from the reviews, folks absolutely rave about the welcoming atmosphere and the wide array of drinks, whether it's their craft beers, real ales, or those cocktails that go down a treat if you fancy something fruity. The staff seem like a right friendly bunch, always ready with a smile and quick to sort you out, and it's great that they welcome dogs too – makes it feel even more homely. Pair that with some decent pizzas from their local tie-up, and you've got a solid spot for a casual night out. On the flip side, though, it's not all perfect; some people find the cocktails a bit on the sweet side, which could disappoint if you're after something more sophisticated, and without a beer menu, you might end up playing guesswork. Plus, it can be quieter than you'd expect, so if you're after a buzzing crowd, it might not quite hit the mark every time. Overall, it's a place I'd recommend giving a go – it's got that warm, community feel that's hard to beat, as long as you go in with realistic expectations.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely cosy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed evening with friends.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, including craft beers, real ales, fine wines, and some cracking cocktails that hit the spot if you're in the mood for something special.
  • It's dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your furry mate for a pint.
  • The tie-up with local pizza places means you can grab some tasty pizzas and sides, adding a nice food option to your visit.
  • The staff are really friendly and attentive, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after properly.
Cons
  • Some of the cocktails can be a bit too sweet for those who prefer something drier, like a classic martini – it might not suit everyone's taste.
  • There's no menu for the beers, which can make it tricky if you're after something specific and need to ask around.
  • It can feel a tad quiet at times, especially if you're hoping for a lively buzz, so it might not always have that full pub energy.
  • A few folks have mentioned inconsistencies with certain drink orders, so it's worth double-checking if you have a particular preference.

Gorgeous little micropub with cute outdoor space, dog friendly with a wide choice of cocktails and wine

This is a great micropub with a good cocktail offering if you like sweet, fruity cocktails. Even the old fashioned there is somehow overly sweet. However, I don’t like sweet cocktails. I’ve visited a few times recently and at each visit have repeated my very simple martini order, as they have the option of a gin or vodka martini on the cocktail menu. Each time my simple martini order - vodka, olives, very, very dry, very dirty has produced totally different outcomes. Some just about passable, some an insult to the concept of a martini. This reached absolute rock bottom recently, on a Saturday evening where my usual order produced a glass barely half full of neat vodka, shaken with ice and badly diluted, with one olive. No vermouth, no brine. I gave up at that point and probably won’t be returning. Certainly not for any form of cocktail. If you have a martini option on the menu, please be sure your staff are able to make them consistently and with a good understanding of what various martini preferences mean. Plus, it would be lovely if the menu had other, less sweet cocktail options. Even a picante would be something.

A little tucked away but worth a visit. Staff friendly and very good service. Wide selection of wines and cocktails but no menu for the beers. Tie up with local Fireaway offers a tasty choice of pizzas and sides - highly recommend. Just a shame it wasn’t a little busier.

A nice homely pizzeria. A beautiful cozy pizzeria with some simple decor but it has a lovely atmosphere about it. The staff were truly lovely and helpful. The menu has a decent selection of items but I chose the vegetarian options (veggie supreme) and it was great. The toppings were disturbed evenly and cooked perfectly. Do give it a try if you're in the area.
