About This Pub

Ah, Bent Brook in Urmston – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a reliable old mate, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the staff really shine through with their warm, attentive service that makes you want to linger a bit longer over your meal. The food's a proper highlight too; think hearty, flame-grilled dishes with big portions that hit the spot, whether it's a steak pie or some tasty burgers, and it's all at prices that won't leave you shocked at the end. It's got that family-oriented charm with a dedicated area for kids, so it's brilliant if you're popping in with the family or just after a relaxed evening watching the big sports events like the Women's Euros or the Lions tour. On the flip side, it's a tad let down by the cask ale – only one option available sometimes, and it doesn't always live up to expectations, which is a shame for us ale enthusiasts. All in all, it's a solid choice for a budget-friendly night out in Manchester, with plenty of positives that outweigh the minor niggles, so I'd say give it a go if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant, always friendly and going the extra mile to make you feel welcome.
  • The food is spot on with generous portions – the steak pie and burgers are real crowd-pleasers.
  • It's a great value for money spot, ideal for a casual get-together without breaking the bank.
  • Family-friendly vibe with a nice children's area, making it perfect for outings with the little ones.
  • Fantastic for sports fans, with live screenings of events like the Women's Euros and rugby matches.
Cons
  • The cask ale selection is a bit disappointing, with limited options and not always the best quality.

Cheap and cheerful, we spent a lovely afternoon in this pleasant Greene King pub. Food was good, large portions and the steak pie was particularly tasty. Cask ale was disappointing though, only one available and it wasn't a good quality pint. Staff were lovely.
