About This Pub
You know, I've popped into Beefeater in Whitley Bay a couple of times, and it's got that easy-going pub atmosphere that's just right for a casual get-together. The views over the sea are an absolute treat, especially if you're settling in for a drink or a meal with mates – it really adds to the charm. I reckon the staff deserve a shout-out too; they're attentive and make you feel right at home, which turns an ordinary visit into something a bit special. Plus, those lunchtime offers are a winner if you're watching the pennies, with plenty of hearty mains under £8 that hit the spot after a day out. On the downside, the food isn't always spot-on – some reviews mentioned dishes like the fish and chips or steak options falling flat, more middling than memorable. It's not a place for fancy dining, but if you're after reliable, no-fuss eats in a pleasant setting, it's worth considering. All in all, I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, just keep expectations realistic for a solid, everyday pub experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The sea views are absolutely cracking, making it a lovely spot for a relaxed meal or a pint on a sunny day.
-
Staff are top-notch and really friendly, like the ones mentioned in reviews who go the extra mile to make you feel welcome.
-
Great value with affordable lunch deals, such as mains under £8 from Monday to Friday – perfect for a budget-friendly bite.
-
Solid selection of British classics and a decent breakfast buffet with fresh items and cooked-to-order options.
-
Family-friendly vibe, ideal for a casual outing with the little ones, as it's spacious and accommodating.
Cons
-
Some dishes can be a bit disappointing, like the fish that's more batter than fish, or the steak sandwich that doesn't quite deliver.
-
Food quality is inconsistent – it's fine for a quick meal, but it might not always live up to the hype, as a few folks have found it just average.
-
As a chain restaurant, it lacks that unique local charm, feeling a tad generic compared to independent spots.
-
Closing times can vary, so it's worth checking in advance to avoid any surprises, especially if you're planning a late visit.

With the right expectations, this is fine food for after a long day at the beach or when very hungover.
Imagine a casino, an American sports bar and a cheap British eatery had a baby and made it into a chain: padaa beefeaters.
The charm is that they make piping hot British classics (full English etc) with zero pretense. It’s a basic breakfast but someone made it for you and it’s cheap.
Ignore the vending and the slots machines or pick a beach facing seat and it’s almost a decent joint to sit. And outside terrace definitely better than inside.
I forgot to take pictures of the food but the signs that I did capture give you a pretty 1-1 idea of what you’ll get
Took the grandkids for lunch today and couldn't fault the place. Seated in a booth with a lovely view of the sea, the place was cool and quiet (it was early). We were served by Rob, who couldn't have been more helpful or polite, showing great patience while the kids ordered. The food was excellent. Our third visit and we've never been disappointed.
Had the pleasure of spending the morning here earlier this week. Buffet breakfast had a decent range with items being refreshed regularly. There were also cooked-to-order items available, which was a great option
Jenna and Stacey were great hosts. Attentive and friendly, they both worked the room well and had some great interactions with myself and others.
I had some work to do and some meetings, the team were very accommodating and sat me in a booth with a power socket.
Overall great experience.
Beefeater is my favorite restaurant-bar in Whitleybay. Quality is superb and the service is really good. With a great view over the sea, it's a great place to enjoy a pint in a sunny day.
Some of the most mid food I have ever eaten
The fish was half batter, the steak flatbread sandwich sounded really good but was a letdown, and the chicken was fine. The triple-cooked chips were not as crispy as I expected.
Without the savers menu that is available on weekday afternoons, I would say this place isn't worth it at all. There are way better places to eat for cheaper
The service was good, but food took a while to come out
