About This Pub
Ah, Bar XV, it's one of those places in Burton-on-Trent that really stands out for its cocktail scene – I've heard from mates that the drinks are spot on, especially with those early evening bargains that make it feel like a treat without the hefty price tag straight away. The staff seem to go the extra mile to make things welcoming, particularly if you're there for something fun like a cocktail class; it's those personal touches that turn a good night into a great one. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing – some have mentioned the costs can sting a bit, and the overall feel of the place might come across as chilly, both literally and in terms of vibe, with a few tales of awkward encounters with other visitors. Plus, with it only being open on select days, you might find yourself planning around it rather than popping in on a whim. All in all, if you're up for a cocktail adventure and don't mind the quirks, it's worth a go, but keep your expectations balanced for a proper pub-goer's experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and welcoming, especially for special events like cocktail classes – they'll make you feel right at home.
-
They've got some cracking cocktails with great deals, like 2-4-1 until 7pm, perfect for a fun night out without breaking the bank early on.
-
It's got that late-night energy, staying open until the wee hours, which is brilliant if you're after a proper unwind session.
Cons
-
Drinks can be a bit steep on the wallet, like paying over £26 for a couple of G&Ts – ouch, that adds up quickly.
-
The atmosphere might feel cold and unwelcoming at times, with some folks mentioning it's not the cosiest spot, and even run-ins with rude guests.
-
It's only open a couple of days a week, which is a shame if you're hoping for a spontaneous visit, and the bar can sometimes feel a tad empty.

Tried this place Saturday night for drinks whilst visiting Burton.
£26.10 for 2 x G&T?
A very cold and unwelcoming place.
Drinks are expensive, no cocktails, and the place is very cold.
I have been here twice, never again. First, a random male guest bumped and shouted at me for no reason, very rudely (I didn't do anything, I was just waiting for my drink)
Last time, a freaking guy bumped into us (in a kind of harassing way) while we were just standing on the floor. Security guards, where were you in that time? 😠
Very unwelcoming place with some creepy male guests and expensive drinks, never again 😠😡
Sadly not a great experience today at brunch at this establishment. Came for a family bottomless brunch and the bar was totally empty on a Saturday, not a major issue, just a bit odd
We were advised our hostess hadn't arrived yet but the manager would look after us til then, we were kept topped up on drinks pretty regularly which we appreciated, and the hostess was very accommodating with alternative drinks orders (mocktails)
The real disappointment was the food unfortunately, we waited roughly an hour for some toasted bread triangles, a bowl of pate, onion chutney and a bowl of nuts between 5 people. At £35 per person it was not a great spread. That said we certainly drank enough to make up the price of the brunch so if you're more about the drinking and less about the food I could recommend a visit
We had a cocktail making class for my birthday today (30/12/23) and honesty I couldn’t say nicer things about Imogen and Pep, they were super lovely and welcoming hosts, honestly, I couldn’t have had a better birthday, they were so chatty and made us feel so comfortable, the cocktails were amazing, they even let me go behind the bar to make some cocktails which was a lovely touch!!! We ended up staying for 4 hours and ordering more drinks as the conversations were so lovely! We also stayed for a drink after purely because the company was amazing!! If you want a drink or a lovely welcoming experience go to Bar XV, you won’t be disappointed.
Amazing bar! 2-4-1 cocktails until 7pm and they are all stunning! Super friendly bar staff, my go to drinking place in Burton🤩
