We were visiting family and came here last minute for dinner ….. service and food were both outstanding and has to be the one of the best places in Whitley bay to eat. Would 100% recommend a visit
My wife and I are regulars, we're here every week for drinks and food. It's got a nice, chill vibe, perfect for chatting. Drinks are cheap, and the food's amazing. My wife's a gluten-free vegetarian, which makes eating out tough, but she's hooked on their gluten-free nachos – and so am I! The staff are super friendly, I'd totally recommend it.
Full disclosure, only ended up in Al Bear because our original choice was closed. I'm really glad it was! Al Bear is a well appointed, classy, yet cosy venue . The staff were lovely and the food matched them. We had Sunday lunch, one Super Roast and one goat's cheese and spinach pie. Both were well presented, as you can see and absolutely delicious. The veggie gray, particularly, was superb. Unfortunately we're only in Whitley Bay for a few days but if we were lucky enough to live here, Al Bear would be top of our list as a destination restaurant. Go, you won't be disappointed.
Friday afternoon.. so very quiet indeed hence the atmosphere score. We went for Bottomless but Friday is the only day they don’t do it 🙄🤣 we had Beef & Brie burger and Beetroot salad & mushroom bruschetta from lighter bites which were awesome. Cocktails fab but expensive. Staff attentive & lovely

Been meaning to try this place for ages.
We ate Saturday evening, 5.30, was busy but not rammed. Service was extremely quick and friendly.
Both (fussy) kids ate everything, that’s a sign we’ll be back.
The chicken kebab is not for the faint hearted, it’s a meal and a half!
A good choice of alcohol free too which is a bonus.
Really reasonable for a family of four.
