About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about the West Riding Refreshment Rooms – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles with its old-school charm and stories etched into every corner. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks absolutely rave about the fantastic range of ales and beers; there's always something fresh on tap to tempt you, alongside those trusty favourites that never disappoint. It's dead handy being right in the station, so if you're nipping through Dewsbury, it's an easy spot to grab a drink without straying far. The outdoor area is a nice touch for when the weather's playing ball, and they've got live music now and then to liven things up. On the service front, the bar team seems to be on point, making sure everyone feels right at home. But, to keep it real, it's not all perfect – the lighting inside can be a bit moody, which might make it feel a tad gloomy for some, and you might bump into a few characters who add to that rough-and-ready feel, not always in a good way. Oh, and there was that little niggle with one beer not quite living up to expectations, but that's pub life for you. All in all, if you're after a proper Yorkshire welcome with a solid drink in hand, it's worth a visit, but go in with an open mind for the full experience.

The West Riding pub is a great place with character and characters.
It has history and a traditional old pub feel. I love that about it.
It holds an ever changing selection of ales and beers so there's always something new to try as well as some reliable favourites.
All good quality.
Some nice fireplace spots and a converted car park area to a good little beer "garden" area, that holds regular live bands.
The beer prices are a little on the higher side, and the small kitchen means the staff have to try hard to get good food out, but they do as good a job as they can with what they have.
You can grab a train ticket if heading on somewhere and walk right from the bar to the platform to catch the train. Perfect
All in all, a great place.
After living in Oz for over 20 years and returning to Yorkshire, I’ve got to say I love these quaint train station pubs (Huddersfield is great too), offering lots of beautiful ales and beers. Was surprised to see a Belgian beer (Delirium) on tap and very excited as I love my Belgian beer, but slightly shocked at the £4.15 price for half a pint. Still, thankful for the choice.
We had a lovely stop here. The choice of ales is enormous and the pub has a lovely atmossphere. It's also very conveniently located right inside the train station and it has an outside sitting and smoking area. Don't let the dimly lit interior and some of the guests put you off. It only seems a bit grungy as first but most people there are as friendly and open to a chat as most Yorkshire people are. Great stop if you want to do the booze train journey from Leeds to Huddersfield.
This station pub has it all - even its own toilets! Absolutely superb choice of cask and keg - Track Sonoma on cask, Steady Rolling Man on tap to name but two. Sizeable outdoor area hosts live music. Well worth alighting from your 🚂 journey for 👍🏻
Must also praise the terrific barman - chapeau.
I had an hour's wait for my train and the platform was filled with the delicious smells from their kitchen. Admittedly the place was quiet, which was good because it made for excellent service. The food was great, but I was also so hungry at this point my opinion may be biased. I did like the insect hotel that was in the pub garden, gave a real caring/compassionate side to the place. I enjoyed my brief visit.
